James Edward Shively, aged 78, died at home on April 24, 2013, of natural causes. He was born October 15, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio, to Edward Wendell Shively and Mary Ellen Gamble. He attended Lincoln High School (Gahanna, Ohio) and Otterbein College (Westerville, Ohio) before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from being stationed in Korea, he attended the University of Miami (Florida). Jim had a long and successful career as an Actuarial Consultant. On June 9, 1984, he was married to Ruth E. Cornock. They celebrated 30 years of happiness together this month. Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth, and his loving children: Russell Sklenka, Atlanta, Ga.; Tracey Shively, Orlando, Fla.; Wendy Shively, Miami, Fla.; Brian Shively, Atlanta, Ga.; and Kristin Collins, San Antonio, Fla. A memorial service will be held Sun., April 28, at 2 p.m. at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford, Fla., with visitation from 1:30 to 2:00. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
