James Singleton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2015.
James William Singleton IV suddenly passed away in his home, December 21, 2015. A Dallas native he was born July 8, 1963 to Shearer Ann Jackson and James William Singleton III. Upon graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors in Business Administration he pursued a career in commercial real estate. Of the many accomplishments throughout his life James had recently celebrated his seven year anniversary of his sobriety just before his passing. James was a family man – his greatest enjoyments were his beloved children. He was recently able to walk his eldest daughter Megan, 'Pooh Bear', down the aisle this past May; he spoke to his son regularly to discuss sports and Fantasy Football; he called his middle daughter Meredith, 'little bunny rabbit'. He was boasted of Meredith's accomplishments in poetry. In addition to his children, James also enjoyed baseball, golfing, football and his Fantasy Football team 'The Ducks'. James is preceded by his Father, James William Singleton III, and he is survived by his mother, Shearer Ann Jackson, daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Justin Bent, daughter, Meredith Singleton and son James 'Jimmie' Singleton V. A celebration of James's life will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 2:00 pm. James's family invites you to come celebrate the many wonderful memories of James. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions can be made in honor of James to SafeHaven of Tarrant County, 1100 Hemphill Street, #303, Fort Worth, Texas 76104.

Jim absolutely adored his amazing children, Meredith and Jimmie, and their beautiful mom, Shelley, so very much! What a testament to family and friendship. He will be missed, but his big heart lives on in Shel, Mer, and Jimmie.

Jim Singleton was a very devoted son and father. He was also a caring brother to his sister and uncle to her daughter. He would want to be remembered for all of his roles by all of those that he left behind. Let us remember that death brings with it an opportunity to reflect and grow closer together to fill the gap that Jim Singleton's passing has caused. My heart goes out to those that grieve my Uncle Jim. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies go out to Sherry, Jim's mother, his precious children, and those who showed love and concern to him through the years of his life. He was one of the sweetest most tender men I have ever met. He loved his family and was so proud of his children. He wanted peace, joy, and love in his family. I pray as we gather today to celebrate his life we remember that sweet tender spirit he had . Many prayers for your dear family, Carole Cagle Dallas. Tx,

Megan, Meredith, Jimmie V, and family. I can not express enough how shocked I was when Jimmie called me back to let me know what had happened to your Dad. He has been one of my best friends since we met in our early 20's working for State Farm. We were planning on being roommates again once his lease was up and I was looking forward to living with Jimmie again. Once we were 2 men and a baby long before they even thought of making that movie and I am pretty sure Megan was the smartest person in our house!
Your Dad was extremely proud of all you kids and I will miss him greatly.
