I worked with Smead at the Star Telegram many, many years ago. He was always a source of humor - and gentleness. The humor was never tainted with anything hurtful. My condolences.

I knew Jimmy in high school at Robert E. Lee in Tyler. We became good friends and I recently found him on Facebook again and we had begun to communicate. So sorry to hear this. He was a great guy. Love & prayers for the family.
