James Archer “Jim� Smith, 59, of Hot Springs, died Monday, August 10, 2009. Born November 21, 1949 to Ruth V. and Hiram A. Smith in Hot Springs. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Hot Springs and a local businessman. He is survived by his two sons and their spouses: Jason Andrew Smith, a professor of law and ethics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and his spouse, James Evelock of Boston, MA; and Reverend James Abram “Abe� Smith, a United Methodist minister and his spouse, Amy Smith of Plano, TX. He has four grandchildren, Abigail, Anna Beth, Addison and James Abram, Jr. He is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Richard and Marilyn and Mike and Susie; and two sisters and their spouses, Donna and Ronnie Newton and Janet and Sam Hood. He will be honored at a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic, 133 Arbor Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901. Gross Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Guest register at www.grossfuneralhome.com
