Corning - James Daniel "Jim" Tingley, 65, passed away on March 21, 2024 in Horseheads, New York. He was born on February 20, 1959 in Corning, New York; the son of the late Donald Jackson Tingley and Priscilla Joy (Hindley) Tingley.

Jim was a a lifelong resident of Corning, New York. He played the trombone in the Northside Blodgett Middle School band, and was a 1977 graduate of Corning-Painted Post East High School. Jim had a talent for repairing small machinery and electronics. He enjoyed skiing at Swain Ski Resort, and volunteered at the East Corning Fire Department. Jim cared for and looked after many people in Corning by mowing their lawns for over 30 years. He sometimes shared magical life metaphors that were poetic, profoundly insightful, and uniquely helpful and accepting of others.

Jim was survived by one day by his mother, Priscilla Joy Tingley of Pflugerville, Texas. He is also survived by siblings: Susan Ellen Tingley (Larry Henson) of Pflugerville, Texas; Carol Ann Tingley (Tom Howard) of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; Jane Tingley Hunter (Paul Hunter) of Austin, Texas; and Edward Tingley of San Francisco, California; nieces: Sarah Scott of Austin, Texas; Joy Tingley Cruz (Rene' Cruz) of Apex, North Carolina; and Michelle Hunter of Austin, Texas; nephew: Edward Roman Tingley of Cary, North Carolina; Grandniece: Pearl Scott Moen; and Grandnephew: Luka Cruz. The family plans a memorial gathering for Jim to be held at a future date to be determined.
