James Vandenbergh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 22, 2025.
James Vandenbergh passed away on August 28, 2024, in Wilmington, Illinois. Known for his infectious laugh and a heart of gold, James was always ready to lend a hand or share one of his cherished fish stories. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Lucille Vandenbergh. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Hinner, and his grandsons, Jacob, Jase, Jordan, and Justin. He is also survived by his brother John Vandenbergh (Gwen), his sister Dawn Vandenbergh, and his nephews Sean David Vandenbergh and Neal Fredrick Vandenbergh.

James's life was enriched by the exceptional friendships he shared with Tony Seialabba and Steve and Sharon ("Mama") Fulford. Their love and support meant the world to him.

A celebration of James's life was held, during which his ashes were spread at his favorite fishing spot in Michigan's Upper Peninsula-a place that brought him immense joy and peace.

May James's memory bring comfort to those who loved him as they carry forward the warmth and laughter, he so generously shared.
