Wallace, James Terry; of Ann Arbor, MI; age 75; passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on April 3, 2014. He was born on March 2nd 1939, to John and Ruth Wallace in Lapeer, Michigan. Jim spent his early years in Pontiac, and then later moved to Plymouth where he graduated high school. Jim attended Eastern Michigan where he graduated in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army, at Fort Gordon, in Augusta GA and at Avon Army Depot in Lexington KY. Jim was a long time Dexter resident and owner of the Dexter, Pinckney, Stockbridge, Manchester & Napoleon IGA Grocery stores along with his brother Jerry. He later bought into the Pet Supplies Plus franchise in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his family and Peter Daczka. Jim was an avid traveler and golfer; he loved Michigan football and basketball. Jim helped develop the Dexter High School Hockey program back in the 1980’s, and served on many community boards. Jim’s favorite places to visit were his cottage on Crystal Lake, and Walt Disney World with his family. Jim is preceded in death by his son, James Robert Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Judith Wallace; daughter, Susan (Marc) Spencer, son, Alex ( Katie) Wallace; daughter-in-law Wendy Wallace-Emert, and his eight grandchildren, Alexis, Kaes, Cassidy, Lukas, Karsten, Reid, Vienna and Jake. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Jacky) Wallace; niece, Jayna (Jay) McConnell and Sydney; nephew, Jeremy Wallace. Services will be held on Monday April 7, 2014 at the Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Meet with the family at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. The family would like to invite you to join them for a light buffet at 12:30 p.m., at The Polo Fields Country Club, 5200 Polo Fields Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: University of Michigan Myelodysplastic Syndrome research, or Knox Presbyterian Church, 2065 S Wagner Rd. Ann Arbor, 48103.
