James King Wasson, age 72, of Modesto, CA, passed away on October 1st, 2021. James was born to the late Theodore Wasson and Ruth Wasson (Nie) on June 9th, 1949, in Santa Cruz, CA. He had two older siblings, Teresa Cowlie and the late Bill Wasson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Nina Wasson of Liverpool, England. James is survived by his two children Andrew Wasson (Maria) of Lakewood, WA, and Jamie Dagey (Tony) of Marina, CA. He had two grandchildren, Nina and Penelope, whom he adored, and a girlfriend, Sandi Gordin of Modesto, CA.
James was a proud Army veteran, having served his country for 21 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. His career consisted of being a Signal Corpsman, Electronics Equipment Maintenance Chief, Tactical Communications Center Operator, and Air Defense Artillery Senior Sergeant. He served in Great Britain, West Germany (2 tours), South Korea, New Mexico, and California. After his Army career, he went on to work for Santa Clara County as a Correctional Officer.
James loved to travel, visit family, and see the sites. He enjoyed reading Fiction, playing video games, doting on his children and grandchildren. He loved CA's beaches and heading out to restaurants to enjoy a good meal with wine or a margarita.
Funeral Services will be held at the Mission Mortuary 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey CA on Friday, October 15, 2021 following with a graveside service at El Carmelo Cemetery. For further information, please call the Mission Mortuary at 831-375-4129.

I´ve been spending more time with mum recently and she tells me a lot about the trips she and dad did with Jim and Nina, she has such fond memories of the time spent with them. I´ve also been looking at the photos from their wedding, Jim looks so handsome in his uniform! My son is currently undergoing the selection process to be a UK army officer, it´s in the family!
