James Weaver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2013.
James "Jim" Weaver, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. A native of Raleigh, NC, Jim was the son of the late Joseph Halford and Inez Parker Weaver.

Jim graduated from Garner High School, Garner, NC in 1971. He also attended Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, VA and the School of Radio Broadcasting in Atlanta, GA.

For the past 18 years, Jim has been employed by Washtech Inc. in Charlottesville, VA in the field of car wash equipment sales. He was a born salesperson who never met a stranger. This industry quickly became his passion and he leaves behind his boss, many fellow employees and customers, all whom he considered lifelong friends. There was never a dull moment when Jim was in the room. Quick wit and a zest for life were his forte; he enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. As a great cook, he loved to be in the kitchen but more so, on the deck with charcoal smoke in the air.

Jim traveled a great deal with his job, and while on the road for long periods, he and his brother spent hours on the phone attempting to solve the world's problems. On the back of his car was a "WBD" sticker (worlds best driver), and he truly believed he was. After completing the Richard Petty Driving Experience he thought he should be offered a NASCAR contract.

Jim was a devoted family man and a great provider. He enjoyed being out in the country and looked forward to retiring and becoming a "gentleman farmer".

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melanie Bell Weaver of Chester, VA; son, Zackary J. Weaver (Amanda) of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Megan E. Weaver (Bradley Brown) of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Luca, Caelan, Ronin, and Sulwyn Weaver; brother, Glenn M. Weaver (Linda) of Cary, NC; mother-in-law, Frances Tant Smith of Raleigh, NC; brother-in-law, Mark E. Bell (Susan) of Apex, NC; nephews, Aaron, Zane and Jonathan Weaver, and David Bell; and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831, on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams Street, Apex, NC 27502, on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery in Harnett County, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to: Victory Junction Camp, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com or www.apexfuneral.net.

I'll never forget your performance in Oliver! at GSHS as the Artful Dodger, as well as you dressed as the Garner Trojan in the Cary game your senior year. You made this world a better, happier place and I'll miss laughing with you, my old friend.

My deepest condolences to Jim's family. May you find comfort in your great memories. I know you will miss him very much. I'm from his hometown of Raleigh and so saddened by this news, feeling he was far too young. May God bless you.

To all my VA family - I am so very sad for all of us. Jim was just the greatest guy - always loving and kind. My favorite memories of him are his laughter and great hugs! My heart is with you - love you all! Margie

To the family of Jimmy,
Growing up on Hickory Rd. with Jimmy, Glenn, Inez and Joe, I remember the face of young Jimmy. I lived there for 18 years. I haven't seen
Jimmy since the late 60's, but have had
the opportunity to know Glenn and Linda and their boys. My sympathy to
you all. Jimmy is gone too soon. May God comfort you.
