Just found out last night Jimmy had Passed On. We had been friends since we had both were at North Wood. Had not seen him in years you know how it is when people goes their separate ways. Me my Dad was also in the Army so always on the move. But back in our North Wood days Jimmy and I an Alan Hafstead were always getting in trouble I think we stayed in the office more than in class. I will miss him dearly. RIP my old friend see you on the flip side .

I hadnt seen Jimmy in 30 years, but he recognized me as soon as I walked up to him a few years ago.
He immediately starting reminiscing about our junior and senior high school days... remembering things we had done I had long forgotten.
We were bonded forever I guess by our mischievous natures ...and music.
He was the first person to fire me from a band...and also the first to share a passion for all things musical.
I was astounded by the width of his taste and will be forever grateful to him for opening my ears to all that is good in the world of sound.
Hopefully he took his nose flute with him to the other side!
Cheers my friend.
I will miss that twinkle in your eye.

He was an exceptionally talented guitarist, singer, songwriter. He lived life on his terms; stubborn as a mule yet generous, gracious, well-read, sensitive and quick with a joke. Look him up on youtube under J.D. Westmoreland. Give a listen to his music. His spirit resides in those songs. Godspeed Jimmy. We will miss you.

Jimmy was my friend for about 49 years. He was the son of the late Major James & Louise Miller Westmoreland.
He was witty, smart, and perhaps the most talented singer/songwriter/musician around. He had a long and storied music career, but in recent years, could be found sometimes picking down by the Liberty Bridge in downtown Greenville. He enjoyed performing for people. Jimmy was close to his family, and had a large group of loving friends, acquaintances, and fans.. He will be greatly missed by all of us whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
