James Leon Whitt, 65, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed 1:09 a.m., Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his home.

James was born January 3, 1959 in Waverly, Ohio the son of the late Robert Lee Whitt and Martha Louise (Strong) (Paul) Hickman. On October 5, 1982 he was united in marriage to Mildred Kay "Millie" (Carter) Whitt who preceded him in death on March 13, 2011.

He is survived by three daughters, Chris Ann (Jeremiah) Sautter, Jamie Lynn (James) Perkins, and Amy Nichole (James) Lambert; a son, Jordan Leonitas Hannah Whitt; eight grandchildren, Air Force Senior Airman Devyn (Chloe) Addy, Kami Sautter, James Odel, Air Force Staff Sargent Hunter Perkins, Kaycee Perkins, Savannah (Jonathan) Lambert, Colton (Shanda) Lambert, and Brody Lambert; three great grandchildren, Kimberlynn Mosely, Kane Mosley, Copelin Lee, and one on the way, Avah Lambert; three brothers, Shirden "Lee" (Judy) Whitt, Robert Whitt, and Michael Strong; three sisters, Murial Maynard, Vickie Lansing, and Mary Evelyn Ison, and in-laws, Bill and Mary Kathryn Dicus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his stepfather, Paul Hickman; a brother, Robert Lee Whitt, Jr; a sister, Penny Whitt; and a brother-in-law, Charles Maynard.

James was a Veteran of the United States Army, and a retired C.O. from CCI, Chillicothe, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2024 at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Bob Barbie officiating. Burial will follow at Hay Hollow Cemetery, Pike County, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service on Thursday.
