JAMES EARL WOLF JR.

YORKTOWN - James Earl Wolf Jr., age 86, of Yorktown passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008. He was born May 7, 1922, in Yorktown, to the late James Earl Sr. and Mary Ann Kunde Wolf.
James was born and raised with his family in Yorktown. He was a graduate of Yorktown High School in 1939. He served in the military during World War II as a U.S. Naval instructor and pilot and was located in Pensacola, Fla.
In 1943 he married the love of his life, Glenna Parker Wolf on June 13 in Hutchison, Kan. Upon return from the war, James worked with his father in their family run grocery store, Wolf's Supermarket in Yorktown. After his father passed, James became owner of the store. He enjoyed working in his store, going in around five a.m. and leaving after 7 p.m. Between James and his father, Wolf Supermarket was open 80 years.
Besides his love for his supermarket, James was an avid golfer. He could be found at the Yorktown Country Club many an afternoon.
James will be remembered for his unmistakable grin. He always had a joke to say and if it got a laugh, he'd repeat it.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl and Mary Ann Kunde Wolf Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Parker Wolf of 65 years; as well as his son, James Wolf III and wife, Judy of Yorktown; daughter, Barbara Wolf Hale and husband, Billy of Spring; son, Scott Wolf of Yorktown; daughter, Mary Ann Wolf Calderon and husband Santos of Cuero; brother, Charles Wolf of Houston; sister, Mary Evelyn Wolf Sokol of Corpus Christi. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home in Yorktown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at Finch Funeral Home in Yorktown with Pastor Cliff Krcha officiating. Burial will follow at Westside Cemetery in Yorktown.
Serving as pallbearers are Travis Wolf, Justin Wolf, Landon Wolf, Blake Wolf, all grandsons, sons-in-law, Billy Hale, Santos Calderon, Lucas Pick and Brandon Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers are Kingslea Meager, Allison Rios, Brandi Calderon and Jayme Calderon, all granddaughters.

I worked for Mr. Wolf many years ago. He was a kind man who showed me many a thing about honest to God hard work. And to appreciate life. He will be missed. God bless you and know he is in a better place.

My sympathies to the Wolf family. I had the joy of working for Jimmy at his store in the early 1990's before he closed it. My brother Elmer Metting also worked for Jimmy for a number of years there. We bought a many a bag of groceries from him. He is the kind of friend that you do not forget. He will be missed by my family. My prayers to the Wolf family.
