WALNUT COVE - "A true man of God went home to be with the Lord he has so faithfully served and loved", Pastor James "Jim" Michael Wright Sr., 59, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Funeral service for Pastor Wright will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown with Dr. Alan Mason, Rev. Darren Stevens and Dr. Bobby Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with military rites provided by District 11 Memorial Honor Guard.
He was born on February 12, 1948, the son of John Cavrich and Katherine Louise Wright. Pastor Wright served as a minister for 30 years and was the former pastor of Highland Baptist Church in Martinsville, Va., Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and most recently Vienna Baptist Church in Pfafftown. Jim served on the board of the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptist Churches and also as a representative for Bob Jones Baptist University from 1985-1987. Jim graduated from Empire State Baptist Seminary in Syracuse, N.Y. and did graduate studies with Bob Jones University and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He served our country proudly during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Provost Investigator with the United States Army where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. There weren't many things that Jim couldn't do or fix.
Love and devotion for his family, children and grandchildren was the most important things in his life outside his love of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Helen Wright; and his in-laws, Helen and Charles Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Lynn Jones Wright of the home; a daughter, Kristie Wright Nieto and husband, Eugene of Winston-Salem; two sons, James Wright II and wife, Erica of Kill Devil Hills and Jason Wright of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Vann Hunter Nieto, who in his eyes the sun rose and set and Renna Marie Wright, the granddaughter he had wanted all his life; one brother, John F. Wright and wife, Dottie of Fairmont, West Virginia; a half sister, Angela of West Virginia; a half brother, Steven Cavrich of Fairmont, West Virginia; a special aunt, Helen Virginia Murphy of Worthington, West Virginia; several special brothers and sisters-in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pastor Jim Wright Memorial Fund, First Citizens Bank, 8715 Broad St., Rural Hall, N.C.

We were so shocked and saddened by the news of your dear husband and Father, but trust you are being comforted knowing he is safe with the Lord.
Jim was a great blessing to me and help to us at the Martinsville Christian School. He was such an encouragement. Our prayers are with you. My son, Kenny remembers Jason. My brother Dennis informed me and he too is grieved.
I know that God will provide you all you need as you rest in Him!

Dianna and family,
Even though we did not know your husband and father, it was evident from knowing Dianna that family was so important. It is never easy to lose those we love, but knowing our loss is heaven's gain can ease the pain. God bless you all in this time of sorrow. We are both available if you need to talk.

I am so sorry today to hear of Pastor Jim`s passing. My mother was a charter member of Marshall Baptist Church, and she requested that Jim would do her passing serimonies. She loved him so much.Even though I only got to meet him a couple of times, he was a true gentleman, and a man of God.

Dianna and family,
We were so saddened to hear of Pastor Wright's passing. He holds a special place in our hearts. Not only was he an inspiration to us while attending Marshall he also married me to my "Mr. WRIGHT". I was just looking at pictures the other day of our wedding and thinking how much I missed his sermons. He never failed to hold my attention or minister to the areas I needed to be hit spiritually. He was missed by our family simply because we weren't at his church. Now, he will be missed in a different way. We know we will see him again!! Take care. You are in our thought's and prayers.

Diana,
I just wanted to let you know how much I love you and your family. You will always be in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers. No amount of words can end your grieving. I wanted to tell you that Pastor Wright is not dead, just his body- his soul is rejoicing in heaven. Whenever I feel burdened I go to the bible and read John 11:25-26 " Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die."
God Bless,

Dianna, Jim, Jason and Kristi:
It has been several years since we've seen or had the opportunity to speak to you, but Jim's loss is one that will be felt by many for years to come. We cannot adequately express our sympathy with words, but you are very much in our prayers. Heaven is now an even sweeter place with Jim at home.

All of you are in my prayers for Jesus' love and comfort. Our rock and hope.
It was because of mom's (Frances) words of respect and love when she spoke of Pastor Wright that I wanted him to baptize me. I was blessed by the love and caring I saw in his heart when I spoke with him before my baptism and the few times I have seen him. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Just as Pastor Wright and all of us are kept in Jesus' heart. Jesus is crying with us.

We will someday be reunited with Jim and only then will we understand why this happened. My love and prayers are with you and may God's presence fill the void in your hearts till we see him in Glory.
Love in Christ.
