Jamie-Lynn Vandale Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 14 to Jul. 15, 2010.
JAMIE-LYNN VANDALE Jamie, age 41, passed away at St. Paul's Hospital with family by her side on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jamie was born in Vancouver, February 13th, 1969, and she moved to Saskatoon in May 1970. In her younger years she took jazz, tap and contemporary dance classes. Jamie also took formal sax lessons and was able to play five instruments in total. She went to Vincent Massey and later Mount Royal High School where she became an honour student as well as a member of the Voyager's Club. She attended the University of Saskatchewan and was still working on her Fine Arts degree when she met the love of her life Don Shand. They were happily married August 31st, 2002. She also attended night classes at SIAST. Jamie worked at Dairy Producers Co-op Dairy, Mitchell's Gourmet Foods where she made many friends including her husband Don. Later she worked at Lynum Progressive as an office manager, joking that she kept the men's paperwork in line. Jamie was an avid reader, never to give away a book and was often reading three books at a time. She also loved playing as well as listening to her music. Her love of the arts was further expressed by her paintings and her book of poetry, including both poems she wrote and some that she felt the need to write down. She loved camping and canoeing with her husband Don and enjoyed going to the cabins at Atton's and Big Shell Lake. She is loved and remembered by her husband, Don; step children, Ryan and Skylar; parents, James and Bonnie-Jean; brother, Michael (Brenda) and their children, Matthew, Jessica, Brian and Tyler; mother-in-law, Louise; in-laws, Guy (Dianna), Marie (Steve), Lorraine (Wayne), Donna (Jerry), Darcy (Belinda) and Jacquie (Doran) and their families; special friends, Shelley, Rhonda, Jodine, Cindy, Shelley and Jamie's beloved cats, Killer and Midget. Jamie was predeceased by her grandparents, Cliff and Marge Vandale and Dave and Viola Fyfe; uncle, Ken and John; aunt Judy; father-inlaw, Jack and two cousins. Special thanks to the staff at RUH, Saskatoon Cancer Clinic and St. Paul's Hospital. Please join us in celebration of Jamie's life on Friday, July 16th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall #63 (Spadina Crescent West and 17th Street West). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of choice. Arrangements in care of David Polzen MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200). Until we meet again Jamie, we love you.

Jamie you were the quiet strength in this family and your quick wit it seems was only the tip of the iceberg of how special you were. You gave Ezrie a gift in that poetry book and she has become an avid reader and a poet herself. I love and miss you, rest in peace.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free

Bonnie, Jim, Don, Michael and family. We cannot begin to tell you how very sorry we are to hear of your loss. We remember "Sissy", the little girl next door with the long pigtails...the gal who was one of the bunch....a whole bunch of happy kids that made up our neighbourhood....Jamie the grown up woman with a husband and home....and then Jamie as we last saw her fighting a battle that she just could not win. While we can't know how difficult this time is for you please take some comfort in knowing that there are many many people mourning with you. Also, please be confident that although it seems that your entire world has been turned upside down today....and it has...time heals...things will never be the same again...but eventually life will get better. We love you...you are all very much on our minds and in our prayers.
Bill & Donna

Mr and Mrs Vandale and Don, I am a bit speachless (for a change) it feels as though I have a hole punched out of the middle of my heart. Jamie and I shared such a wonderfull friendship that I will cherish forever! I am so glad to have had her in my life for the last 12 years.
