LEJA Jan Jan Leja, born Grodzisko, Poland, May 27th, 1918 and died November 4th, 2009, Victoria, BC. Survived and cherished by his wife Mary; his children: Nela; Kati and Stan; Mark and Allison; Clare and Rob; Gaby and Doug; and Joe and Kim; and his grandchildren: Matthew, Luke, Simon, Naomi and Jonathan Ashdown; Meg and Rebecca Leja; Anya and Jessica Leja; and Josiah Lamb. The funeral Mass will be at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, November 12th at St. Patrick's Church, Victoria. Janek taught at the University of Alberta and UBC. He contributed to and wrote numerous scientific papers and was the author of "The Surface Chemistry of Froth Flotation". He was a kind and erudite man who endured many hardships and earned many honours. With respect, flowers from family only, please. In his memory, please plant a tree or flower for him if you can.

Professor Leja was an insightful and creative leader in his field of mineral processing. His legacy remains in the many books and publications that are important to reesarchers and process engineers in the mining industry.

His colleagues and associates around the world will remember his contributions.

We regret his passing. His ideas will live on.
