Jan Cooper Zenian, age 87, of Menifee, CA, passed away on February 14, 2023, surrounded in love by family after a brief illness.

Jan was born on December 19, 1935 to Byron "Pete" and Ethel (Hayes) Cooper in Arapaho, OK, moving to San Diego, CA, at a very young age, becoming her forever home.

She had a passion for family, travel, her beloved dogs, all things beach where she felt peace and heaven on earth, and sports. Jan learned the love of sports from her father, growing up in a very sports-oriented family. Her boxer dog "Jordan" was the apple of her eye.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Lori Miller of Cranston, RI, Tracy (Mark) Hendrixson of Orange Cove, CA, Allison Stover of San Clemente, CA, and Lynn Fernando (Ann) of Menifee, CA; Grandchildren: Cody (Molly Romanco) Trostel, Cali (Jermaine Walton) Trostel, Whitney Miller, Michelle Miller, Taylor (Gage) Weibert, Sydney Buchanan, Jaz Harris, Adria (Caesar) Jimenez, Natalia (Chris) White, and Felicia (Luke) Hawking; 15 Great-grandchildren; Brother Phil (Judi) Cooper, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

While there is a lifetime of memories with my mom, one of my most favorite ones was our Mother´s Day trip to Vancouver, BC with her mother, my grandmother. Three generations exploring places none of us had been to by plane, boat and car. Our boat ride was to Victoria Island where my mother and grandmother fell in love with Butchart Gardens, a floral heaven. Our car rides were seemingly endless as we ventured our way to quaint cafes, abundant eateries, suspension bridges, and to my favorite destination, Whistler. My mom drove and the road to Whistler was constantly winding and scary! It felt like the car barely fit on the paved road wrapping around the mountainside. There was a scenic view lookout that neither my grandmother nor I saw, but my mom did and she made a sudden decision to take it. Our car whisked over the oncoming lane and into the lookout area, but from my grandmother´s view and mine ... it looked as if we were going over the cliff, plummeting to the canyon bottom to never be seen again! My grandmother screamed out "Good God Irene!" while I screamed and saw everything move in slow motion. Once we realized we were on pavement and the car was stopped, facing the dreary cliff edge no less, we all laughed and laughed until we each had to exit the car to pee in the bushes. Needless to say, our car rides from then on included the infamous "Good God Irene" phrase. I will never forget the laughs and memories from that day and every Mother´s Day always brings me back to this trip with a smile and a laugh.
Love always Mom, Lynn
