Jane J. Briggs

FAIR HAVEN - Jane Jaunita Briggs, 86, died Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2018, at her residence in Fair Haven, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Middletown Springs, the daughter of Stanley Ebenezer and Lillian M. Colvin.
Jane was an avid reader and old Western movie fan and enjoyed playing 45, knitting, crocheting and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Jane started work at the age of 16 for Kay Potter's restaurant in Poultney and then also worked at The Orvis Co. in Manchester for many years.
She is survived by her daughters Lillene Briggs, of Fair Haven, and Laurie Wiskoski and husband Steve, of West Rutland; by her grandchildren Lukas and Kaylee Wiskoski, both of West Rutland; and by her great-grandson, Brandon Layton; and also by her pride and joy, Belle.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Edgar Briggs; by a son, James S. Briggs; and by her siblings David Hughes, Betty McMahon and Charlene Hughes.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 1939 Main Street, Castleton, with the Rev. Robert Noble officiating.
