Jane Cooper-Hill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 8 to Jun. 9, 2022.
Jane Cooper-Hill, 77, passed away on May 16, 2022, in McAllen, Texas.
Jane was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years, James Cooper-Hill. She is survived by her son Jeff Beaver, her daughter Laura Beaver (Dean DuBal), sister Jackie Cooper (Dwight Hurd), brother Mike Cooper (Kathy Cooper), grandchildren Graham, Caroline, and Eliza, and her deceased husband's children and grandchildren. Jane's parents, Bob and Dee Cooper predeceased her.
Jane was a loving mother, enthusiastic grandmother, friend to many. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, she graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1962 and attended Ohio State University, where she joined the Alpha Phi Sorority. She later graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law where she met Jim. They moved to Texas where Jane began her career. She truly enjoyed practicing law and had a very successful career in private practice, then later as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Texas. She was a bright student always, a good listener, and eloquent speaker and writer - qualities that served her well throughout her personal and professional life.
Jane's many interests and hobbies made her the interesting person she was. She traveled extensively, enjoyed art, and read voraciously. She played the piano when she was young and enjoyed classical music in her later years. She and her husband spent many years doing genealogical research, which revealed family history and stories that Jane carefully compiled and shared with the whole family. This research also led to membership in The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As an avid birder, and member of a bird club, she always had binoculars in her car and was "at the ready" to identify a bird she spotted along the road or on the water along the Texas Gulf Coast where they lived. She loved being a grandmother and sharing her passions with her grandchildren. During various excursions and visits, Jane always planned lots of interesting activities where they could learn and have fun.
Jane's quick wit, sense of humor, and kind manner embodied the spirit she had in life, which we will cherish forever.
A memorial will be held on June 25, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens 5600 E. Broad St. Cols, Ohio.
