Jane Goetz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2011.
Jane Goetz (nee Schmidt) passed away peacefully on October 19, 2011 at Sabal Palms Health Care Center, Largo Florida. She was 89 years old.

Jane was born in 1922 in Janesville Wisconsin, the only child of Willard D. and Freda Hackbarth Schmidt. She went to public school in Janesville and then attended Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin, to study speech and theatre. It was there that she met fellow student and future husband Bob Goetz from Chicago, Illinois. Jane and Bob were married in 1942 in Janesville.

After Bob returned from World War II, Jane and Bob started their family and eventually made their home in Chicago. In 1954 the family moved to the western Chicago suburb of Lombard, Illinois. Jane was president of the Lombard Service League and involved in a variety of community activities.

In 1974 Jane and Bob moved to Clearwater, Florida, where Jane's parents had relocated a few years earlier. They joined the Clearwater Country Club, where they remained members for many years, enjoying the golf and the many social activities.

For the last twenty-two years Jane had been a resident of Kalmia in Florida. She served on the condo board and enjoyed the commraderie of her friends and neighbors.

Jane's husband of sixty years, Bob, predeceased her in 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Judy, of State College, Pennsylvania; a son, Jim, and his wife Donna, of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and a granddaughter, Alexis, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Services will be private.
