Jane Hansen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 11 to Oct. 15, 2023.
Jane Ann Hansen, age 93, long time resident of Harrison Township, MI passed away peacefully under Hospice care on October 5, 2023. Jane was born in Dearborn, Michigan on December 29, 1929, the daughter of John and Juanita Ewing. Both Jane and her brother John Ewing Jr. graduated from Fordson High School in the early 40's and were life-long best buddies.

In 1953, Jane married Robert Hansen, who passed away in 2013. Their 60-year marriage experience included living on Lake St. Clair, lots of dancing, bowling, and golfing, riding camels in Egypt, cruising the Rhone, some relaxing years in Pompano Beach Florida, always together.

Her life passions were the church and congregation she loved and being a volunteer in the community where she lived. She worked on the formation of the Peace United Presbyterian Church in Fraser, MI. Her life-long best friends were the founding members of that congregation of loving people. Volunteering was her mission. She gave her time and smarts to the public schools, the county library, and many organizations including Another Mother for Peace, Interfaith Council for Racial Justice, Macomb County Crisis Hotline, Meals on Wheels and Ronald McDonald House. She also worked as the Director of Volunteer Services at South Macomb Hospital.

Jane passed her sporting interests on to her sons Bob and Bill, teaching them to skate, swim, swing a bat, throw a football, and ride a bike. She was always in the stands, rain, or shine, at all the games anyplace they ever played.

Surviving Jane are her sons, Robert Hansen (Deborah), William Hansen (Cindy), and husband Bob's stepdaughter Sybil Wallis; four grandchildren, Evan Hansen (Susannah), Neil Hansen (Danielle), Ella Hansen and Naomi Hansen, and step-grandchildren Susan Vergilio (Al) and David Wallis (Janice); three great grandchildren Aldous Hansen, Katie Hansen, and Jack Hansen, and step-great grandchildren Seth Vergilio and Sophia Vergilio. Private family services will be in the future.

Peace and love to everyone who shared in a moment of Jane's life.
