Jane Hawkins

1932 - 2023 Jane Louise Albrecht was born in Ohio in 1932 and passed away in March 2023 in Redlands, California. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia and earned a B.S. in Home Economics from Penn State. Jane worked for Kellogg's and P&G, helped introduce Tide, and was Director of Home Economics for the O'Keefe and Merritt Company. She moved to California because she hated the cold weather, and married Leland Barnes Hawkins, who predeceased her. She loved family trips and travels with friends. She boogie boarded into her 70's and camped until she was 89. She read the newspaper every day, loved to garden, and grew her vegetables among flowers. She is survived by 3 children, Joanna Deane (Thom) of Silver Springs, Nevada, Kathie Kaisershot, Redlands, Fred Hawkins (Amy) of Raleigh, North Carolina, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 2 nephews and their families. Over the years, she was active in many clubs and organizations including Pi Beta Phi, Panhellenic, Contemporary Club, Redlands Historical Society, California Women for Agriculture, Redlands Horticulture, and Improvement society. She was also active in the PTA at Smiley, Cope and Redlands High School. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. A memorial service will be held on March 30, 2023 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of the Grail, First Congregational Church, 2 W. Olive, Redlands, CA. Donations in lieu of flowers to the First Congregational Church, Museum of Redlands, or California Women for Agriculture.
