Jane Hendricks Maulucci, 29 (68), of New Bern, NC, died peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Jane was born May 2, 1956, in East Hartford, CT, to Lucille Stapleton and Benjamin Hendricks, Jr.

To say that Jane loved the beauty and power of words is an understatement. A master communicator in all forms written and spoken, Jane willingly shared her gifts for good. She began her communications career in the U.S. Air Force as a broadcast journalist, after which she parlayed her talents into freelance work as a voice actor, copywriter, and newspaper reporter. She then created her businesses: The Reactive Voice, Trained by Jane, and Voice Over Company, and authored her first book, "You Can Make a Living at That?"

Jane's fearlessness to try new things, to speak up and speak out, and her genuine desire to help people are evident in the countless connections she has made between family, friends, colleagues, and even a few strangers on the street. Jane had a gift for helping others discover their goals and dreams and supporting

folks in reaching them as only Jane could-with kindness, resourcefulness, and when necessary, more than a smidge of insistence.

Jane lived her life with relentless optimism about the potential good in everyone. She was not shy in engaging her disarming smile, sharp wit, wicked sense of humor, and a wee bit of Irish stubbornness to lead the charge for getting into good trouble that supported her advocacy work on behalf of women, veterans, and small-business owners.

Jane leaves behind her loving husband of twenty-three years, Seb Maulucci (who after being made ill by Jane's cooking during their dating days, not only married her, but continued to eat her cooking!), and their three children: David Maulucci and wife Heather Maulucci, Errants Benjamin Hendricks-DeFiore and xys spouse Mars DeFiore Ensley, and Jefferson "Jack" Stapleton Hendricks Hilliard; and their three grandchildren: Corbin and Emmett Maulucci, and Eric Michael Ensley.

Jane is survived by her siblings: Benjamin Hendricks III, Maureen Hendricks Ricci, and Kathleen Hendricks, and was predeceased by siblings Paul Hendricks and Barry Hendricks.

Jane donated her talents and time to a variety of organizations. Jane was an audiobook narrator for CRISKids for more than thirty years. In her beloved community of New Bern, she was a champion of the Craven County Small Business Center, a leader of the Coastal Women's Forum, a ghost for the New Bern

Historical Society, and an actor with New Bern Civic Theatre and Rivertowne Players.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's name to: CRIS Radio (crisradio.org) or your local food bank.

A Memorium gathering in her honor will be held:

I am immensely sad to read of Jane's passing. She left lasting memories of happy times, and her clever and witty barbs made my head turn... and left me speechless in response. Endlessly creative, even blowing the seeds off a dandelion one summer became one of my favorite photos of her. She dearly loved her mom, as my candid photo of them shows. She was good friends of Lorelei Allen and enjoyed playing with her son Michael, in the color photo; she loved kids. The youngest of all her siblings, I had the sense Jane would live forever; in our memories she certainly will. I am consoled to see that her family is large and happy, though the space she will leave in everyone's hearts will be hard to fill. I send my deepest condolences to her family.

Amazingly kind. She lifted you up. No matter who you were, what you did, or where ever you were, she wanted to know you. Then she would say something funny and make you laugh at some silly thing. Jane would somehow always manage to make your day brighter. One of those special people. I´m thinking you may have been up in that hot pink borealis sky the other night!

I´ve known Jane since the 1970. We had some good trouble adventuring together. So devastated to hear about her passing. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I lived across the street from the Hendricks family for 21 years in East Hartford and they were simply wonderful people. The boys were real "car buffs" and would help anyone with their cars if needed. My family wishes to express our sorrow to the family and friends of Jane Hendricks. RIP

My youngest and dearest aunt, from one J. M. to another, I promise to carry on making the best cheesecake based on the recipe you shared that you got and improved upon from my father´s second wife. The best part of that was our enjoyment of just how circular life could be. Those of use left behind shall endeavor to continue making you proud of our sarcastic humor and Hendricks attitude. You will be missed.

Jane leaves a giant hole in our lives. She was a great friend who always found lots of ways to remind you that she cared about you; brownies, flowers, candy, a framed picture of your home towns incline.....and on and on. We played Mexican Train with Seb and Jane many times, but would always tease her that no one wanted to sit next to her.....she was wicked good at it and usually won. I was always tickled that when it came to food, she could be happy with a jar of peanut butter....something I outgrew as a teenager. We loved and sometimes got to participate in her ghost walk dramas. So much fun and creativiity. We will miss her sorely, but will always have her in our hearts and memories. Neil and Diane Holliday

Jane was one of those rare individuals that only saw and brought out the best in others. Her infectious positive attitude, smile and laughter would just melt your heart. She was the epitome of love.
I will never forget the fun times we had with Seb walking for miles (and miles and miles) in Wahsington DC. Only she knew where were and where we were going. I am grateful that she did not let us rent those electric bikes!!!
We shared an emotional moment standing befor the MLK Memorial I will remember always.
I will also never forget the fun we had in Acadia National Park, lobster rolls on top of Mt. Cadalic, strolling on Sand Beach and getting lost at Jordan Pond.
She was truly a very special person and I am grateful for knowing her and having her in my life.
Memories of her will be a part of me forever.

My favorite memory of Aunt Jane is her infectious laugh. She never minded that I slept in her room when I stayed at my grandparents , and was the first woman I knew in the military. You are a bright light in my world and I will miss you.
