THOMASES JANE KAHN KLEIN
BOCA RATON-75, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her home in Boca Raton, Florida, after a brave battle against ovarian cancer. Jane was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on February 3, 1933, to Sylvia (Siegel) and Benjamin Kahn. She married the late Robert A. Klein on May 15, 1954 and moved to Youngstown, Ohio the same year. Following her husband's death, she married Irwin Thomases in 1981. After spending winters in Florida, Jane and Irwin permanently relocated from Youngstown to Boca Raton, Florida in 2007. Jane graduated from Penn Hall in 1950 and attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1954, with a degree in Journalism. Jane loved the arts and was a generous supporter of the Butler Institute of American Art, in Youngstown. She also supported Jewish Federation and Rodef Sholom. Jane was an owner of the children's clothing boutique, Little Friends, in Youngstown, during the 1970s and 1980s. She loved to spend time with her many customers and their children, and put her acute business sense to work to manage a successful small business. She received her greatest joy from traveling with her husband and family, and especially enjoyed taking each of her grandchildren on special trips when they turned thirteen. She also derived much happiness and pride from the many milestone celebrations and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, and was always in attendance with a beaming smile. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was deeply loved, and she will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Robert "Bobby" (1980). Jane will be forever remembered by her husband, Irwin Thomases; her three daughters, Jody Stein, Leslie Katz (Steven), and Andi Baroff (Steven); her two step-daughters, Martha Thomases (John) and Elisa Thomases; and her seven loving grandchildren, Sam Stein, Jack Stein, Benjamin Baroff, Nikki Baroff, Aaron Katz, Nina Katz and Arthur Tebbel. Services will be held at Rodef Sholom Temple at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
