It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving mother and wife - Jane Mugure Wanjau, 62. Mum passed peacefully to be with her maker with her family by her side on Saturday April 24th, 2021. She leaves behind her husband Eng. Dionysius Wanjau Maina and children: Francis Maina Wanjau and his wife Joselyn Adina Wanjau of Worcester; Festus Gathecha Wanjau and his partner Trimana Brock of Atlanta, GA; Dr. Ruth Wanjiku Wanjau of Manchester, UK; and her adorable granddaughter, Kenzie Mugure Wanjau who affectionately called her Cucu. Jane was born and raised in Kenya to the late Festus Gatheca Kabinga and late Shelmith Wanjiru Kibaiyu of Tumutumu Mathira division, Nyeri County, Kenya on 1st December 1958. She is predeceased by her brothers Elam Kabinga, Wilson Kabinga, Asaph Kariuki and sisters, Peninah Njiru and Perpetual Wakonyu Gatheca. She leaves her three remaining siblings: Peris Gikonyo, Francis Kibugu and James Wahome. She was the daughter-in-law to Mary Wanjiku Ndoro and the late Francis Maina Wanjau; and sister-in-law to Grace Wanjiru, the late Christopher Wanjaria, Winnie Mwau, James Mwathi, Samuel Kimiti and Beatrice Wamuyu. The entire Wanjau family would like to acknowledge the great team of caregivers (UMass Memorial Health's Departments of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Hematology and Oncology; and Benedict Internal Medicine; and the VNA Care Hospice) that took care of our mum for the past 9 years. They were all essential to making mum feel safe both in the hospital and at home and due to their overwhelming support, became her extended family. We are extremely grateful for her wonderful life that touched many in Kenya and in Worcester and for the amazing example she set for her family. Although she will be missed, we take comfort knowing she lived her life to the fullest, achieving many of her goals, inspiring others and being full of courage and dedication to her family and enormous network of friends. It's never too late to say how sorry I'm to learn of the passing on of dear mama Maina as I called you.
I got to know about your passing on just yesterday, several months ago.
I'm comforted to know that you are now at rest with the Lord you loved so much.
I remember our times together at Magiwa, your and baba Maina giving me lifts to church at PCEA Nairobi West, dropping me in town when I worked at Goro consulting engineers and our going home together after the district prayers.
I cherish teaching Ruth( my little girl) in Sunday school,Maina and Gathecha.
I recall how you supported my first mission trip to Madagascar and thereafter your joy to know that I had got a spouse there!
I remember you making jokes when I showed you her photos and saying " you have brought us a mzungu"!
Your sense of humor was so infectious.
Your challenged me to continue walking with God and serving Him.I still do to date.
You always called me son.
Many times you called me to your office at Chester house and prayed with me and often gave me some pocket money when my salary was delayed when I started working.
I remember your ordering fruit salad from city market, across the street. One time you took me out to nyama choma at the market and encouraged me to always trust God in the midst of trouble.
Baba Maina,my deepest condolences and pole sana for your loss.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen you.My prayers are with you.I admired your life as a couple and desired to one day have a life like yours.I can't imagine how deep your loss is but I pray that the grace of God,which is so sufficient will keep you at this time. One day you will join Jane in glory.
Ciiku,my dear little Sunday school kid, Jesus is very much with you.Mum is in good hands.
Maina and Gathecha, God is good all the time.
I'm praying for you.
Keep the faith.
Isaac

Thank you for always reminding me to cherish the little things. And not to take anything for granted. You have not gone away from me because your memories will still live on in my heart, everyday. I wish i had you a-bit longer but God needed you. The angels needed you to crack heaven up. Watch over us my dear. I love you.

Mrs. Wanjau, you always had a smile on your face. I know you will continue to smile on your family, your husband, your two sons, daughter, daughters in law and grandchild. I spent very little time with you but will always cherish the memories. You were loved dearly.

I have come to believe that the Lord gives time to those who love Him to make their peace with the world. Aunty Mugure was blessed with the privilege of reaching out to us and sharing her stories and love with us over the past few years. May she rest in eternal peace and may we all remember her for her authentic nature, courage, good humour in all situations, tenacity and desire to live life in full colour. May the Lord and her heavenly family receive her with joyous celebration.

Auntie, you will be missed! Your beautiful vibrant smile, your kind and encouraging words, your infinite wisdom. Though you are now physically gone from us, I am at peace knowing heaven has gained a new angel. Thank you for your guidance all those many years ago when I was a university student- believing in me, challenging me and above all mentoring me to choose the path I did. Thank you for being a dear friend to mum and our entire family- you were always there with us, even though not physically, you never let a few days pass by without checking in. Thank you for loving us. Though physically departed from us, you will always hold a very dear place in my heart. Rest In Peace Tata! Until we meet again- Fare Thee well
