Janell Honeck Obituary

Janell Honeck, 94, passed away May 11th, 2025 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born to Olaf and Ruth Groll in Holgate, Ohio, the family then moving to Ottawa, Ohio when she was a child. She married James Honeck in 1955. They were married for 60 years, and lived in Malinta, and then Defiance, Ohio. In 2019 Janell moved to Texas to be nearer her daughter.

"Jay" was a graduate of Ottawa High School, and The Toledo Hospital School of Nursing. She worked many years as a registered nurse at Toledo Hospital, then at Heller Memorial Hospital in Napoleon, Ohio.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandsons brought a special light to Nana's eyes! Jay also enjoyed flower gardening and spending many summers at the family home on Devil's Lake, Michigan. She was a lifelong member of St. John's UCC, Holgate, Ohio.

Janell was preceded in death by her husband, James. She is survived by her daughters Juli Goetz (Steve), Missouri City, Texas and Jill Hausman (Dennis), Peoria, Illinois; grandsons Alec Goetz and Adam Goetz(Mollie).

There will be a family memorial service held in Ohio at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. John's UCC, Holgate, Ohio or Anchor Hospice, Houston, Texas (www.anchorhospice.com)
