Tucson - Janet Rose Harkless, 78, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Peoria, Arizona. Born on October 14, 1945, In Oskaloosa IA to Dale and Thelma Pascoe. Married in 1966 to Jack Harkless. Jack pass away January 13, 2024. Janet had a son. Jeff was born in 1969.Moved from Des Moines IA to Tucson AZ in 1977. Janet was a cherished member of her community and a loving figure known for her caring nature.

A proud graduate of Oskaloosa High School in 1964, Janet dedicated 24 years to the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), where she served as a cafeteria manager at Booth Fickett Middle School for five years and at Santa Rita High School for 12 years. She retired in 2003, which allowed her more time to pursue her passions for travel, photography, and playing cards with friends. Janet captured the beauty of the world through her lens on various cruises and travels, leaving behind a collection of images that continue to tell the story of her adventures.

Janet was a devout member of the Rincon Congregational United Church of Christ of Tucson where she engaged actively in community and spiritual activities.

She is survived by her loving family, her Son Jeff Harkless, Tobie Harkless her Daughter-in-Law, Kody Harkless and Landry Harkless Grandsons all from Scottsdale Az. Janet's life was one of warmth, generosity, and kindness, qualities that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Arizona in memory of Janet, honoring her compassionate spirit.

I´ll always remember Thanksgiving with Jan and Jack. Listening to Jan tell us about her latest cruise and Jack showing his latest video about the boys baseball and football games. A fun time. I miss both of them. Papa Joe

Janet was always smiling when she was with her grandsons and she was so proud of Jeff and Tobie and the family they built. One of my favorite memories was Disneyland where she was not only thrilled to be spending that quality time with her family, but she thoroughly enjoyed the magic of the place. She will be missed!

I´ll always remember going to stay with Jack & Jan for a week in Tucson. Grandma would take us to Lincoln park to play football or baseball, breakers water park, golf n stuff, home plate, the list goes on. She would always be there with my brother and I. Caring for us, making sure we got to do fun activities, cooking us meals, giving us chores, buying us gifts. She was the best grandma anyone could ask for. She loved us so much and loved to watch my brother and I do well in sports. I will always cherish those special moments for the rest of my life.
