Janet Kamps

Janet Elaine Kamps (née Callaway), age 80, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Salisbury, Maryland.

Born on October 24, 1944, to Beulah and Gilbert Callaway in Wilmington, Delaware, Janet grew up in the close-knit community of Wachapreague, Virginia. She graduated from Central High School and later married Joseph Walter Kamps, with whom she built a life centered around love, family, and unwavering devotion.

Janet was a longtime member of First Methodist Houston, where her faith provided strength and guidance throughout her life. Known for her humor, compassion, and selflessness, she touched the lives of many through her generous spirit and deep commitment to those she loved. Her family remembers her as someone who gave beyond the call of duty-always putting others before herself with grace and warmth.

She found joy in simple pleasures: spending time by the water in Ocean City with Thrasher's French Fries in hand, savoring salt water taffy and Dolly's caramel popcorn. She would travel the Eastern Shore to find the perfect clam fritters. These moments reflected her appreciation for life's small delights and her ability to find happiness in shared experiences.

Janet is survived by her sons Jeff Kamps and his wife Kathy, and John Kamps; grandchildren Ashley Kamps (Sarkis), Brittany White (Josh), Jordan Kamps (Molly), and Joseph Kamps; great-grandchildren Joycelyn, Camden, Reed, Penelope, and Christian; nieces Cathy, Carolyn, Francie (Eric), Stephanie (Randy), and Kristin (Wilson); great- nieces/nephews Avreigh, Emmalyn, Savanah, and Parker; Cousins Connie, Carroll, Melissa, Matthew, Christopher, Sarah, and Matthew; Daughter-in-law Laurie as well as Sister-in-laws Donna and Betty. Her legacy lives on through each of them.
