God Bless all friends and family of Jan Lauer. It brings me joy to think of her beautiful smile, comfort when I remember her amazing personality, so very warm and caring. Miss Jan and think of her all the time. I am forever grateful I was able to know this incredible woman. Rest with the angels Jan, love you always.

As I might not have mentioned a year ago, one of the many things that made us friends was our mutual love of music and singing. Through Prof. Jim McGruer, who was the Daddy of the accelerators at Pitt (ask Bill), we got to express this with visits to the McGruer home in Murrysville. Jim made musical instruments, but could not play any. Steve Elliott and I would bring our instruments, as others would sometimes, and we would sing our heads off, accompanied by delicious Mexican food that Jim happily cooked, as well as Rolling Rock beer, of which Jim kept a full (yes, full) dedicated refrigerator at all times. Jim and Charlotte ("Charlie") provided us with a warm, irreverent, and loving atmosphere at all times. Love to all, Tom Congedo

Jan was simply the best. A terrific boss, a compassionate friend, an enthusiastic participant in life's adventures, a merry spirit having fun. She brightened each day with her presence and enriched the lives of all who knew and loved her, and there were many. May she rest in peace.

Deepest sympathies and prayers with your family. I had the blessing of working for Jan at the ACCD for almost 4 1/2 years. She was a incredibly smart, kind, compassionate, amazing lady. She was truly an inspiration, in every way, every single day. We all love and miss Jan very much. She will never be replaced. We will do our very best to carry on all of the incredible work that she spearheaded at the ACCD; she is our angel now. Godspeed. Love to you and your family. Sara

To all of Janet's family, I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a bright spot in our graduating class, probably the smartest and a friend with whom I spent many afternoons.
My prayers to all who loved her.

My sincere condolences to Jan's family.
Jan worked for me at the Westinghouse Science and Technology Center in Churchill in the 80's but I have rarely seen her since I left in1990. She was a delight to work and socialize with and a very capable person. Also, we share her love of cats. I am so sorry she is gone.

Sincere condolences to the Lauer family on Jan's passing.
I met Jan several years ago when she became the District Manager for Allegheny County Conservation District. I always enjoyed meeting with her. Our meetings always included a discussion about cats. Like her we are cat lovers and ended up with several strays.
She was a special person and I'm grateful that our paths crossed.

Carol and I send our heartfelt condolences to Jan's family on the loss of the jewel that was Jan.
I met her at Pitt in the 1970's, where she was an undergraduate operator of the Van De Graff accelerator, and we have had various contacts since then. She was decidedly a mixture of technical stuff and human stuff, and made life more beautiful for anyone who knew her.
May she be remembered for a blessing.

My deepest sympathies to Jan's family. I met Jan many years ago at a gym - we called her Zena Warrior. Her dedication to fitness along with her physical strength was an inspiration to me and all of our workout pals (or as we referred to ourselves gym rats). So sorry to hear of her passing.
