Janet Lee Wujek

Janet L. Wujek, daughter of the late Harold and Charlotte Palmitier, sister to Jon Palmitier, passed away on October 3rd, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Jan is survived by her children Brenda (Chris) Landers and Tom (Heidi) Wujek; her grandchildren: Savannah Landers, Kaitlin (Joseph) Penrod, Cameron Landers, and Noah Wilkinson. She was a great grandmother to Gwyneth and Eloise Penrod, and former spouse to Donald Wujek.

Born and raised in Waterford, MI, Jan graduated from Waterford High School and attended Central Michigan University, earning a degree in education. Jan taught elementary school until becoming a mother and homemaker.

Jan was an avid seamstress and loved spending time in her sewing room. Between making keepsake quilts, pajamas for her grandkids, and spending time with her quilting friends, sewing brought her great joy. Jan also loved gardening and her green thumb was evident in her love for flowers, which she passed to both of her children.

Jan enjoyed spending summers in Northern Michigan at the family cabin she helped build with her father as a teen. Summer times were full of lake days, special meals, and a mean game of Sorry at the kitchen table. While Up North, Jan always looked forward to visiting Mackinac Island to browse shops and dine at The Pink Pony.

Throughout her life Jan made friends easily. With them she traveled extensively, socialized locally, and shared in their family celebrations. Destinations included China, Central America, Florida, and Las Vegas.

Jan will be missed by those who knew her for her generosity and genuine friendship. The family would like to extend special appreciation to all of the caregivers from Kensington Care & Rehab and Legacy Hospice who loved and cared for Jan over the last nine months.
