Janice M. Morin

Janice M. Morin 1932 - 2022 Westfield Jan Morin, a lifelong resident of Westfield, grew up on a small apple farm on Granville Road. She loved to share stories about her favorite places in the surrounding hill towns – Sunday rides to her Broga grandparents' home on Blueberry Hill, the bells of Stanley Park, watching the oxen pull at the Cummington Fair, and summers at Kinne's Grove on Lake Garfield. But most of all, she loved her home, her family, and her community. You couldn't walk down the street with Jan without running into somebody who knew her from her days working at Friendly's or Rite-Aid, volunteering at the Cancer House of Hope, her jewelry booth at local fairs, or attending Wyben Union Church. She was a generous person who loved taking care of others, offering free advice and a shoulder to cry on. She was happiest with a house full of people playing cards, laughing, and talking. For many years, she invited all her friends to picnics for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. She lived a full life, and when her health started to decline, all the love she had given to others came back to her. The family is grateful to all the friends and caregivers who helped make her last years at home possible. She leaves behind three children and their spouses: Laurie Morin and her spouse Denise D'Amour of Wilmingon, NC; Rob Morin and his wife Lynn Morin of West Townsend, MA; Paul Morin and his wife Dorien Morin-van Dam of Pittsfield, VT; four grandchildren: Willem Morin, Johan Morin, Janneke Clever, and Andries Morin; two living sisters: Karen Martin of Westfield, MA; Susan Schultz and her husband Jack Schultz of North Chelmsford, MA; and many nieces and nephews who loved her. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Morin, her sister Elsie Strong and her brother Jack Williams. Services will be held on Monday, September 26 at 10 am at Wyben Union Church. She will be interred with her loving husband Lawrence Morin in a private ceremony at the Agawam Veterans' Cemetery.
