Janice Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2025.
Janice Marie Smith (née Rozin) passed away on February 19, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on September 28, 1947, in Indiana, Janice lived a life filled with cherished moments and simple joys.

Janice found happiness in the little things-spending time engrossed in a good book, solving Sudoku puzzles, and watching game shows. She also enjoyed the excitement of bingo and visiting casinos, where she embraced the thrill of the game.

Janice was deeply connected to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Smith; her brother, Keith Rozin; and her nieces, Amy Schibi and her husband Richard, and Kim Piche and her husband Chad. She also shared a bond with Tony Bellomy, the husband of her late nephew Larry Gabbard. Janice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Smith; her sister, Lynn Rozin Holtegel; her nephew, Larry Gabbard; and her parents.

Janice's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May her legacy bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

She is an anatomical donor; therefore, there will not be a service. In lieu of that, please feel free to make a small donation in her honor to the charity of your choice.

My husband Mike and I were neighbors of Gene and Janice for over 20 years. Although a very quiet person Janice was always available when assistance was needed and quick to give a warm smile. The neighborhood children looked forward to their yard decorations every Halloween and Christmas.

Janice was a good boss when we worked together. She always looked out for me, making sure I had extra hours with whatever department needed help when she knew I needed the extra money. She'd buy us lunch or cupcakes, etc often just because. Janice was the luckiest person I ever met, always it seemed winning money when she went to Dover. After I changed jobs we'd get together for lunch periodically to catch up and my husband did some work on the house for her and Gene. Janice loved Gene and Gene loved her and they both loved Kristen. I'm glad I knew them both and was able to spend time at work and some out of work time with them.

Aunt Janice, you were the best aunt! Thanks for all of the wonderful memories ! I'm heartbroken that you're gone from this world, but I know I'll see you in the next! I know you wouldn't want me to despair in your passing; you were always such a positive person. You'll always be in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers. I love you!
