Janice WALKER Obituary
September 12, 1962 - July 8, 2012
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our sister Janice Walker at the age of 49. Janice was born September 12, 1962 in Edmonton and died July 8, 2012 at home in Calgary. Janice was predeceased by her Dad, Douglas, in 1999, her Mom, Lynn in 2010, and her brother Keith just last summer. She is survived by her brother Doug Walker (Jayne) and sister Lisa Nemeth (James). Janice took particular delight in her niece Alison Walker and nephews Andrew Walker, Matthew, Jordan and Justin Nemeth and was a big sister to them all. She was a loving and kind-hearted soul and passionately dedicated to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Janice's focus was always on the needs of others. Janice was especially dedicated to looking after our Mom during the last years of her life and she was a gifted care-giver who worked with the elderly, providing before and after school care for children through the YMCA and finally as an Educational Assistant with special needs children at several Calgary Elementary Schools. The family extends their gratitude to pastor Stan Block of Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel and to Janice's many friends. They have been a close second family to Janice and she cherished each of them very much. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 (Telephone: 403-264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca). In living memory of Janice Walker, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Janice was an enduring friend to so many of us at the International Worship Institute! My family has been forever impacted by her friendship even after those events ceased to be our annual reunion! The annual macadamia's and Orange Kitkats will be greatly missed! But she is no longer longing for heaven, but enjoying the ultimate Presence of Jesus, the one she lived to worship! Say hello to our mothers and our little boy for us!

I had the privilege of knowing Janice when she attended Prairie High School. She was a gem! I'm so sorry to hear of her sudden passing, but I know her legacy lives on. Someday we'll enjoy a grand reunion with her. Looking forward to that day...

I am thankful that I met Janice at PHS so many years ago and thankful for Facebook which reunited us in the last couple years. I appreciated her words of wisdom, her encouragement and her prayers!
One of Janice's recent posts was: When life gets stressful ... Set your minds on things above not on earthly things. Col. 3:2 and recently she posted that her favorite hymn was "Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine" - this gives me such peace that Janice was ready for eternity! I pray that each of us left behind would have this same assurance and witness to others!! I am blessed because I knew Janice Walker.

Farewell Janice
How do you say goodbye to a friend. With sadness, love but often with a smile as you remember the happy and fun times you had spent with them. When I remember Janice I will smile. I think in the last few years she told my daughter and I, we were beautiful and complimented us more times than any other friend ( thank goodness for Facebook). She always commented on the Smith family's Facebook photos.
I have been lucky enough to have known Janice since she was 8 years old. Our families were next door neighbours in Lakeview. Janice was that annoying younger sister of my friend Lisa – that tagging nuisance. She was good friends with my younger brother Stan and was often at our house.
School was a difficult time for Janice but she remained cheerful despite the challenges.
We all grew up and moved away but with the Walker family we kept in touch. Is there anything stronger than childhood friends? We saw Janice at celebrations and sadder times. We caught up, chatted and laughed. I was always amazed at her faith and her love of life.
Janice's faith was strong and unwavering. We should all take consolation in knowing that Janice is with her God and is safe and joyful to be with him. We are the ones who will miss her, as a sister, friend, co worker and member of her congregation.
We say goodbye Janice. Take our love to you Mom, Dad and Keith.

I met Janice many years ago and reconnected with her last year. She was a sweet, gentle soul whose kindness and friendship I cherished. While a bright light has gone from this world in her leaving, heaven gained a truly beautiful angel and I know she is where she always longed to be. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Janice was a beautiful person with a large heart and the love of Jesus overflowing. She made an impact on my life as she sang with us in the Centre Street Church choir. She had the gift of encouragement. She always made time to see the best in everyone. She was a true saint and a faithful follower of Christ. I met Janice in 1997. She had a great love for the Lord that was evident in her prayer and worship of Him. This reflected, as well, in her very many friendships, which she valued greatly. Janice was an amazing woman. Her Faith in the Lord was strong and unwaivering. She had a kind heart and a beautiful soul. She was there for me when my mom passed away not a month after her mom passed away. During that time we shared an amazing time of worship and healing from our loss of our mom's.
Janice will always hold a very special place in my heart and the heart of my son and she will be greatly missed until the day that we meet again.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janice's brother Doug and sister Lisa and their families, whom she loved with all her heart. I pray that you let the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand and let Him give you the peace that you need.
