Janice Ward Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2025.
Mrs. Janice Lee Ward (née Plympton, formerly Hinds), age 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on August 26, 2025, in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Born on September 17, 1953, in Milford, Massachusetts, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late John and Alice Plympton. From a young age, she embraced life with creativity & curiosity. She found joy in horseback riding, drawing, and playing guitar.

Janice's greatest love was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband John Ward; daughters Alicia Forte (Hinds) and her husband Mike Forte and Laura Leang (Hinds) and her husband Ben Leang; grandchildren Noah and Avery Leang; sister Patricia Gourley and brother-in-law Allan Gourley; as well as mother and father in-law Jayne & John "Brother" Ward. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws who will miss her dearly. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her and continue to inspire joy in the lives she touched.

Family trips and time spent with her best friend Nancy were among her most cherished memories. Over the years, Janice made frequent visits to New York to see Nancy and her children (Brianna & Alina), nurturing a lifelong bond that brought her great happiness. Janice had a deep love for travel and tradition. One of her favorite customs was organizing an annual trip to Provincetown (P-Town), where she created a welcoming home base for friends and family to gather and enjoy time together. These trips became treasured rituals filled with laughter, connection and lots of Yahtzee & Boggle.

In 1996, Janice married the love of her life, John Ward. Their marriage was a true partnership built on shared passions and unwavering devotion. Together they enjoyed quiet evenings watching movies, adventurous days fishing or attending concerts, and caring for the many animals in their lives. She loved attending concerts and festivals at the Melody Tent and seeing The Pogues & The Who when they came to town. Among their most meaningful experiences were their travels to Ireland-a place they came to think of as their "home away from home. Exploring its landscapes together brought them immense joy and lasting memories.

A Celebration Of Life will be held at Mickey Cassidy's in Medway, MA on November 8th at 1pm for anyone who would like to share memories with her family.
