Janis L. "Truckee"

Janis L. "Truckee" Mack, 68, of Traverse City, MI, passed away February 18, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family, after a courageous year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jan was born on February 5, 1945, in Toledo to Charles and Orah (McDonald) Truckee. Jan worked for Shell Western E&P for 27 years prior to her retirement. She started with the company and worked her way up to materials control specialist in their Kalkaska warehouse. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing and bowling, belonging to several leagues. She was a former board member for the Traverse City Woman's Bowling Association, a former board member for the Ryan Dobry Diabetes Charity and a member of the Traverse City Eagles.

On June 26, 1993, Jan married Michael "Mike" Mack. Together they shared 20 wonderful years together. Jan is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Amy (Andrew) Thompson, Andie (Charlie) Creamer and Greg (Renae) Miller; several grand-children; one great-granddaughter; her mother, Orah, and many other family members and friends. Jan's grandchildren were the love of her life; she many times traveled great distances to watch them in their activities. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Charles and sister, Florence Kugler.

A Memorial Service celebrating Jan's life will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 1 p.m., with visitation one half hour prior in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611, (419.726.1583) Pastor William Duty officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those wishing to make contributions in Jan's name donate to their favorite local hospice. Mrs Truckee and Jan's family, we went back to junior high days, had so much fun on the water around where we lived, I was sorry to read of Jan's passing, Judith (Mason) Hansen

So sorry to hear of Janis' passing. I went to school at Mason Jr. High in Erie with both Janis and Florence. I remember Janis had beautiful long black shiny hair, and was athletic. My condolences to her family.
