January 18, 1973-June 9, 2016

Booneville, MS

Jason Michael Dunaway, 43, died at home in Booneville June 9, 2016 as a result of cardiac complications related to sepsis and Methicillin-resistant-Staphyloccus aureus (MRSA) and went to be with the risen Lord Jesus.

He was born January 18, 1973 in Jackson, TN to Cathy Cox Dunaway and the late Gary Dunaway of Booneville.

A graduate of the University of Georgia's prestigious Terry School of Business, he became an industrial sales representative for several companies, achieving national recognition for selling the most Tennant floor coating products in the nation. Before his illness, he worked in cellular communications in site acquisitions and consulting.

Jason was a man with a true love for his God, his family, his friends, his country and all mankind. He knew and remembered everyone he ever met in his many travels and thanked God for all his memorable experiences.

He enjoyed being "Uncle Jay" to his nieces and nephews, fishing, good music of all types, travel, volunteer work, and telling tales.

Jason was preceded in death by his father Gary Dunaway, grandfathers Shelton Dunaway of Gulfport and J. C. Cox of Booneville, cousins John Jeffrey Cox and Barton Palmer Cox, both of Tupelo, and Dana Dunaway of Gulfport.

Jason is survived by his loving family: mother Cathy, sisters Amanda Walker (Brandon) of Cartersville, GA and Emily Mauney (BJ) of Belden, two nieces, Emma Grace Walker and Madelyn Jane Mauney, four nephews Thomas Brandon Walker, Griffin Elijah Mauney, Cyrus William Walker, and John Douglas Walker.

Grandmothers are Jane Cox Davis of Booneville and Elma Lee Dunway of Gulfport. Also surviving are his uncles and aunts Jeff Cox (Geri) of Columbia, TN, Jason Cox (Edie) of Walnut Creek, CA, Danny Michael Dunaway (Cathy) of Lake Charles, LA and Candace Cox Mache' (Robert) of Memphis, TN. He also leaves his many other friends and relatives who rejoice in memories of Jason.

A celebration of Jason's life will be Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the sanctuary of Booneville Presbyterian Church on George E Allen Drive at 3:30 with the Reverend Bill Connolly officiating. Pall bearers will be Jeff Ledford, Payton Purvis, and J. P. Rambin of Atlanta, Zack Moore of Memphis, Josh Moore of Oxford, Dustin Patterson of Charleston, SC, Matt Hudson, Rory Martin and Russ Vas Dias of Florida.

Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.

Words can't explain me and runaway relationship, he was the REAL definition of a friend. We just talked the other day, I still think I'm in a bad dream. I will sorely miss Jason! And 2 his mom and sister and his nieces and nephews he thought the world of y'all, just know Jason was one of a kind we are all blessed to have had him in our lives! To his mother and sisters, grandparents he's in a better place so y'all be strong! God bless.
