Jason “Jake” Black Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 27, 2024.
Our dear son, husband, brother, uncle and friend Jason "Jake" Millburn Black left this world behind on June 13th, 2024. He left a space in all of our hearts that will not be filled by anything of this world. It will only be filled by things of the Spirit, from our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. He was born February 11th 1971 to Leonard Black and Mary Millburn Butters in Greer, South Carolina, growing up in Salt Lake City, Air Force Academy in Colorado, Fountain Valley California and Bountiful Utah, moving in his adult years to his favorite place, Southern California.

He married the love of his life Pamela Sison on August 14, 2014. Their life together is one like a story book. They adored each other, and were each other's best friends. So close were they, that to the observer, their hearts literally beat as one. In their time together he and Pam were blessed to be able to travel to many parts of the world even to the Philippines where Pam was born. Everywhere he went he made friends. To know Jake is to love Jake. He always extended himself to everyone, especially children and those who were hurting, discouraged or downtrodden. He seemed to be able to feel what others were feeling. His relaxed demeanor and casualness just seemed to invite everyone into his circle. This was one of his great gifts.

Jake was always a self starter, he made things happen, always with a plan "B." He was an EMT, a firefighter and managed several ambulance companies. He owned and operated Life Star medical transport company. His latest venture was Banyan Mobile Wash Systems.

Jake believed in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and he and Pam were regular attenders at their church, helping in the organization and running of many of the Sabbath activities.

Jake is survived by his sweetheart Pam, his mother Mary Butters (Steve), his dad Leonard Black (Susan), Pam's parents Gonzalo and Editha Sison and their family, Jake's brothers, Mike Black and Stevie (Sallie) Butters, his Arizona stepbrothers, Rhett Butters, Troy Butters, Christian Butters, Matthew Butters, Nathan Butters and many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. Preceded in death by his brother Danny Black and stepbrother Jason Butters. Visitation Saturday June 29th, services Sunday June 30th 2024. Online, Green Hills Mortuary, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.
