Jason O'Rear Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 27, 2023.
Jason Earl O'Rear, age 49, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023. He was a native of Satsuma, Alabama, and graduated from Satsuma High School in 1992. In 1999, he became a resident of Alabaster, Alabama and spent the last 24 years as a Commercial Insurance Manager for Nesbitt & Associates.

Everyone who knew Jason knew that his highest priority was being a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and "Pop-Pop". His family was his greatest accomplishment, and he never failed to express his love and affection for them.

Jason never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He could often be found at his cabin in the woods, sitting on his front porch, listening to nature, and watching the sun rise or set. He loved music, turkey hunting, and cheering for Alabama and the Cleveland Browns. He was also a fantastic cook, and his friends and family were thankful for his every excuse to host a gathering to enjoy his meals and fellowship.

He shared his love with all around him, but his AOTS crew held the deepest roots, and Jason's voice will be forever remembered chanting, "Long Live the AOTS!"

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Orlan O'Rear; grandmother Willodean O'Rear; grandfather Jimmy Jones; uncles Gary Jones and Bert Jones; and cousin BJ Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jessica Bennett O'Rear; son Blakely (Shawntel) Sullivan; daughter Alyssa O'Rear; son Conner O'Rear; granddaughter Emiri Sullivan; parents Richard and Ann O'Rear; brothers Chad (Desiree) O'Rear and Jake (Jessica) O'Rear; sister-in-law Jennifer (Cory) Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends he considered family.

Jason's love for all was so deep, and he was loved by so many, the family has decided to take time to plan the most appropriate Celebration of Life in true "Jason style". Details will be announced at a later date.

My first memory of Jason was back in 1996 when his brother Chad & I were hanging out and playing music. Jason pulls up in an Electric Blue 3000 GT blaring Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth & tells us to hop in. Everything else is history.

Another great memory was during Bayfest one year, we ended up in a bar to check out a couple bands that were in town. A couple of us were sitting together and this skinny tattooed guy was talking music with us and sharing a bottle of Jim Beam. All of the sudden, the band that was playing calls out to this guy to come up and jam with them, well, this guy ended up being the guitarist for Candlebox.

Jason always had a way to find the fun out of any situation.

I know he will be missed.

My condolences goes out to his family, his brothers who I know loved & looked up to him. Godspeed.

I knew Mr. O'Rear from working with him at Nesbitt and Asociates. He was the best part of that company. He always treated me with respect and always had a smile on his face every time we did a policy. He was kind and I will truly miss my friend. The last time we talked he told me how proud he was of his daughter receiving a scholarship with Alabama. I will truly truly miss my friend. A part of my heart is hurting. But I know God knows BEST,

Jessica and Kids,
I have no words to express how deeply saddened I am of Jason's passing. He was my brother from another mother and truly was loved by my family. He was the best dance dad I ever knew. I loved talking to him about Alyssa and Sami's competition dance. There was never a question when Jason needed a place to stay, BigJoy's motel 6 always had that light on for him. He was a true friend and brother not only to Ronnie but to all of us. He carried on Ronnie's legacy in everything he did, and we are forever grateful for that bond those two had. My mom always enjoyed Jason coming in town and all the stories he would tell of what him and Ronnie would get into. He is now cooking up some Crazy Unc Cajun cooking right now with him and my dad. I do know he loved you truly and the kids, he even shared with me your 25th Anniversary poem, he was so proud of it and I was so touched he thought of me enough to share it with and asked if you would love it. I said of course how special this was and how heartfelt. He loved you with every part of his being. What a proud dad he was of Alyssa and Connor, he also shared those special moments with me as well. I am going to miss him so much. From all of us here another part of our heart will be missing.

I didn´t know Jason personally, only through heartfelt conversations with his mom. Through those moments, I learned how much he enjoyed hunting, cooking and how great of a family man he was. I am deeply saddened by this loss and I´m continuously praying for comfort for the family. Blessings to you all.

I met Jason only once, he was my sons, best friend and they both invited me to go with them to an ELO concert. Before the concert we had a few drinks at the Rippy´s bar and Jason´s prosthetic leg wound up on the table! His goal was to get a rise out of the waitress, but he got a rise out of everybody in the area. It was hilarious, and that was Jason. He live life to the fullest and love to have fun he will be missed.
