Jason S. Tyhonas, 43, of Coal Center, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in his residence, with his loving family by his side, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 4, 1977, in Washington, a son of Terry Tyhonas of Bentleyville and the late Linda Carrol. He was a 1995 graduate of Beth-Center High School.
Jason was employed by Ten Mile Paving, where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and supervisor for more than eight years.
Jason was a master diesel mechanic and loved anything with an engine. He enjoyed boating, tractor pulling, hanging out at Charlie and Michael's garage, but most of all working on tractors and Ford trucks with his boys. He enjoyed the simple things in life like cutting his grass, but his personality, sarcasm and strong work ethic were undeniably infectious, a man who referred to his coworkers as his "extended family"
On April 27, 2002, he married Heather Gech Tyhonas, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Colin and Cole Tyhonas, both of Coal Center; a sister, Nicole Tritinek of Washington; two stepbrothers, David Carrol of Seattle, Wash., Derrick Carrol of Perryopolis; a stepfather, David Carrol (Nancy) of Bentleyville; mother- and father-in-law, John Gech (Louann) of Coal Center; sister-in-law Bri Gech (Sean Solomon) of California; and three nieces, Addison and Presley Solomon, and Sydney Tritinek.
Deceased, in addition to his mother, is a niece, Lindsay Tritinek.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 3, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, where funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, May 4, with the Rev. Dr. Harry Hill officiating. Interment will be private.
In accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
