Javier Lomeli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2010.
Javier Lomeli was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of "stick to it" attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.

Javier was born on February 11, 1951 in El Paso, Texas. He was the son of Jose and Aurora Lomeli. Javier grew up in California.

Javier was raised with eleven siblings. He had Jesse, Alice, Amelia, Celia, Martha, Armando, Robert, Gus, Darlene, Michelle and Jimmy. Javier was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

A typical teenager, Javier had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1969. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.

Fortunately, Javier enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Javier worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was production manufacturing. He was employed for 20 years at Armstrong. Javier always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Javier enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were reading the newspaper daily and watching TV dramas. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

Javier found pleasure in sports. In high school, Javier played basketball. Javier was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were college basketball - UCLA.

Javier's faith was important to him. He was a member Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Javier enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included a trip to Wyoming.

Javier passed away on September 3, 2010 at home in Covina, California. He is survived by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Covina, California.

Simply stated, Javier was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Javier leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Javier

My Uncle was a wonderful man and loved everyone who surrounded him. Thank You Tony for your thoughts and concerns. He did love his Arizona hats and white T shirts. Trust me thats all he wore. :D. His stories of Armstrong, cousins and his brothers and sisters stay so dear to my family. As it is as well so unreal to me, i still call his name for dinner and will never stop.

Thank you Leo & Miriam for coming and being there for my Dad. You guys are like family.

I can't express how great-full and so kind the Custer Christiansen Mortuary was to my family and I.Thank you again for your help and concerns.

I Love you Uncle Harvey and you'll always be in my thoughts and prayers.

xoxo, your niece

Wow, I'm still in disbelief. Javier will be missed by myself and everybody at his job at Armstrong. It'll never be the same without seeing the famous blue hats and white T shirts but the memories will go on. We miss you buddy...
