Javier Sanchez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 26, 2024.
Javier Luna Sanchez, known affectionately as Jay and Coach, passed away on June 18, 2024, in Shaver Lake, CA, at the age of 59. Born on January 3, 1965, in Fresno, CA, he spent his formative years in Parlier, graduating from Parlier High School and later attending West Hills College Lemoore.

Jay dedicated 25 years of his life to truck driving, a career that allowed him to explore his love for the open road. Beyond his professional life, he was a passionate football coach, devoting many years to coaching youth and high school football teams. His enthusiasm for the sport was only matched by his love for camping and being surrounded by nature, often retreating to the mountains where he felt most at home.

Music filled Jay's life, his tastes spanning various genres, creating a soundtrack to the many joyful moments spent with family and friends. His grandchildren were the center of his world, bringing him immense joy and pride.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Susana Sanchez; children Javier Sanchez Jr. (Janna), Nick Sanchez, Francine Shipman, stepsons Joseph Maestas (Nancy), Sam Maestas, and stepdaughter Megan Garcia; his siblings Ruben Sanchez (Helen), Ana Maria Sanchez, Elaine Hinojosa (Raul), and Lupe Perez (Rudy). He was also a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and a grandfather to eight grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Nicanor and Maria Luna Sanchez, and siblings Santos, Gilbert, and Gracie Sanchez.

The family has entrusted Wallin and Son Funeral Home in Parlier, CA, with the arrangements. Jay's life will be celebrated with the same warmth and affection he shared with all who knew him. His legacy as a coach, mentor, father, and friend will be cherished and remembered by the many lives he touched.

I will always remember walking to snappys with my cousins and sisters and seeing you at the corner house. You'd call us over to make sure we had change for snacks. Your smile with your mustache while saying "SLEEEPY BEAR" .. I LOVE YOU NINO. Even when I'd go to your house in Sanger and I had no business swimming in the canals lol I knew no matter what you had me and I was safe with you. As I got older I would go to you for help with my dad and you listened and you talked to me and I appreciated that so much. I'm sorry for not giving you your flowers when you were here. But you know how much I loved you and without a doubt I know how much you loved me. You made it Nino. Enjoy Paradise
