Jay Barry all I can say is Thank you !!
You gave me a chance to lead sing with you and go on tour with your band for many years. We played at the Animal House every Sat night. We also went on tour to all of the high schools and colleges. You were so awesome to give a kid like me a chance to lead sing for you. Because of you I went on to sing with many other bands and to record some great music in many different studios. You were so kind to me and I learned so much from you. I am grateful to you. You Jay Barry changed my life. The time I was with you and the Jay Barry Band was the best time in my life. I will always be indebted to you Sir. You will be missed. Sincerely "Thank you" Jay,
Jay Barry you are awesome!!

For the last 13 years we worked together I was looking forward to our phone calls as you always made me laugh with your Jewish jokes, tips or just the everyday stories we used to share about the Promised Land.
Rest in peace my friend.

As a graduate of the Jay Barry School of soul & rock, I thank you 'Boss' for three of the greatest years of my life. You were a great mentor, bandleader and diplomat (when assuring my parents that you'd try to keep me out of trouble)!
And thanks for giving young guys like me a chance to realize their dreams.
Bless You & Yours

Jay was a good man and a welcome addition to our family. He was a wonderful partner to my sister Lana and he will be missed greatly by our family. I have many fond memories of our times together and especially his beautiful piano playing and videos he made for us. My heart aches for my sister Lana and for his daughters Dena and Jana and his cherished grandsons. Until we meet again Jay, God speed.

Jay, you were the love of my life and my best friend and my heart. I will carry on without you because that is what you would want me to do but my world will never be the same without you in it. I would give anything to hold onto you for just five more minutes again, like you always asked me to do. Until we meet again I am holding on to you in my heart.
Love, Lana

I had the good fortune to play in the Soul Reunion Band with Jay back in the 90s. Sometimes, people as talented as Jay can develop an attitude, but he was the consummate professional, fun and funny to be around, and most of all, he was an totally genuine person. We stayed in touch for many years, and always had a great time going out with Jay and Lana. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I had lots of fun, and I have many great memories playing in Jay's band when I was in high school. Although we moved away from St. Louis, Jay and I maintained our friendship for the last 50 years on the phone and by getting together each time our family was back in St. Louis. This picture is from our visit in 1997. My last visit with Jay was just a month ago. I'm really going to miss our get togethers.

Jay was a catalyst for legions of musicians in the St. Louis music scene. It would probably be easier and quicker to come up with a list of people that didn't play in his band. I have met some life long friends through him, and I am extremely grateful for that. Thanks for the music and memories Jay. RIP

I remember seeing the Jay Barry band back around 1970. It was huge!! Then I got to know Jay a few years ago and we worked in a pedalboard design for a bit. We never got it past development but it was fun and an honor to get to know a real legend. Peace my friend!

Going to listen to the Jay Barry Band at Music Palace on the Rock Rd. in the early 70's was some of my best memories. Just gave the '45 "Hey Bulldog" and the Parade Magazine article that was in the paper to Kevin Sanders, ex-drummer of the band. Rest in peace!

Indeed sad news. Jay was an icon in the St Louis music scene. So many of us local musicians attended many functions in the 60's and 70's to hear him and his band. He helped to inspire many of us to pursue our musical careers. Thoughts and prayers for Steve and the family.

Music Palace - 1970's - Jay Barry Band on Sunday nights for the teens - what a wonderful memory!! We were about 15 -16 and never missed a Sunday night - Kevin Sanders (drummer) Gary Beugois (sp - bass), Denny Lawler (singer) and then Ralph Butler came in as well... that's about all I remember of the guys in the band.
Music was awesome. Thank you Jay for giving us so many years of great music and an infinity of memories to hold on to. Rest in Peace.
