I am beyond saddened that my buddy Jay is gone. I went to high school with Jay and he was very sweet to me. He was always compassionate and loving. I saw him several times whilst he worked at Strayer in Center City...we worked in the same building. I am so glad I got the opportunity to tell him I named my son after him...thats how profoundly he affected my life even back then. It is an absolute privilege to have known him! I praise God to have passed through his life. With gratitude and love...(I am in his highschool yearbook)

I'm still crying after my favorite professor. He was an awesome person and a good role model. I enjoyed his classes and he taught me a lot. It was so soon. I still can't believe it. I'm so sorry for his wife and his family. R.I.P Professor Buchanon !! I will never forget you:(((

To the Buchannon Family,
My heart breaks for you in the passing of Jay Buchannon. Jay was a wonderful friend and an outstanding person. Jay and I were classmates when we attended WCU. I will never forget his warm smile, outgoing personality and genuineness. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and happy. He will be missed. May God continue to be with you as you heal from this incredible loss.

Dear Vivian and Buchanon Family,
I have many fond memories of Jay from our football days in the Philadelphia Public League and at WCU, especially his enthusiasm during the games. But most of all, I will always remember how Jay could light up a room with his big smile and bear hugs! He will truly be missed. Rest in Peace "Big Bird".
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.

Vivian, sorry to hear about your loss with big Jay. I found out just now and spoke to Maria Daniels and she said that a lot of friends and family showed up yesterday. Ive known Jay since 1987 when i was at WC when he was playing and coaching football. He was very true person and gave alot of himself back to others and had a great influence on so many. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Jay Buchanon was my favorite professor at BCC. This semester was my fifth class that I needed to take with him. He was a great teacher, friend, listener. He pushed me to go on when I wanted to quit with everything in my life. His conversations and his advices made me be who I am today. Thanks to him I am in a honor roll. I still can't believe that he left us :(. Rest in peace my role model. You will always be in my heart and I will always remember your advices. I send all my prayers to your wonderful wife and family...

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Buchanon family. I am a former student of Professor B's, and can say that he was truly an inspiration to me. I had him for a couple of accounting classes, and because of him, I decided to switch my major to teaching because he was able to a usually "boring" subject and made it fun. I know that he touched a lot of lives, and I will be forever grateful that I was able to meet such a wonderful man, as he has had such a tremendous impact on mine.

Mr. Buchanon was not only a great Professor but also a WONDERFUL friend. He was there to talk to you about anything from debits and credits to relationships. I loved bringing him chocolate covered strawberries.....it made his day! He inducted me into the honor society and I was so proud that he was the Professor to do it. I could say so much more but I will leave it at this.....He was an amazing human being and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his wife.

Dear Vivian, I am a former (older) student of Jay's in 4 different classes a couple years ago. I knew the 2nd class I had him he was a brother in the Lord. You must know that Jay and I talked about you & Jesus a lot over a 2 year period. He loved to talk about you and your cash flows at work. My heart breaks for you. I pray that the Lord gives you the peace that passes all human understanding during this time. Philippians 4:6-7

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I had Jay as a Professor at BCC in the fall semester. I just wanted to let you know he touched my life and having him as a teacher made a difference in my life. I couldn't wait till he got his Doctorate, so I could call him "DR. Jay". What a profound loss to everyone who knew him and those who he had yet to teach.
