Jay Chapman Obituary

Jay Alan Chapman

July 19, 1958 to March 12, 2025

Jay Alan Chapman, late of Tulsa, OK, passed away quietly at age 66, at the Clarehouse Hospice Center on March 12, 2025 after his fight with lung cancer. Born on July 19, 1958 in Stoneham, MA, Jay lived his childhood years in Wakefield, MA where he graduated from high school in 1976. These years were filled with fun and happy times with his close friends Norman, Bobby, Jimmy, Steve and his special friend Carol. These friendships lasted until the end of Jay's life.

High school was when Jay met his future wife Carol (Spellman) at the horse barns of Weiss Farm in Stoneham, MA. They continued to ride horses throughout their life together as they raised their three children Aaron, Kara and Joel in Marshfield, MA - and then moved "out west" to Oklahoma. It was here that they embraced the western life style, with Jay and Carol building horse barns, riding the rodeo and the like.

Jay was funny and sharp witted - always looking for an opportunity to make people laugh. He was the one to design and execute the "practical joke" for all to enjoy - especially if the joke was on one of his brothers or sister. Sometimes the joke was on himself; like the time his dog ate all of the Thanksgiving day pies cooling on the back hallway stairs that his mother had spent hours making- no pie for Jay that day.

Jay was a good man, who took care of his family up until his last day here. He is already missed by those who know him and love him - and we really cannot believe he is no longer here with us. Jay was pre-deceased by Clifford and Ruth Chapman, his mother and father. Jay leaves behind his former wife Carol (Spellman) Chapman, and his children Aaron, Joel and Kara (Replogle); as well as his grandchildren Brayden, Brodie, Gabe and Andrew; and his cherished friend David Johnson.

He is also survived by his sister Kim (her husband Mike Murphy is deceased) and his brothers and wives: Neil and Chrissie, Ken and Carol, Clif and Sheila; as well as many nieces and nephews. We all miss him so very much. Jay was a very special person, with a savant-like musical ability to sit down at a piano to play and sing- as well as create anything that he needed; whether it be a horse barn, or to paint a picture for a stairway. He added so much to so many lives.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jay's name to the:

Clarehouse Hospice Center 7617 S Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK, 74133 (tel) 918-893-6150.
