We just learned last week when in New Jersey that Jay had died last fall. We were shocked and very saddened and want to express our deepest sympathy to his family. We met Jay a total of four times over the last few years and were always struck by his sense of curiosity, his humor, his gentleness and the precision he showed in his work as a sofer stam. He will forever be connected with our search to learn more about and restore our family heirloom, a miniature sefer Torah. Yours sincerely, Monica and Francis Moïsi (Paris, France)

Jay was my sweet and fun-loving classmate in our first year of rabbinical school at JTS. He left to pursue his career but did the beautiful goblet-shaped ketubah for my wife in 1972 which then appeared in the first Jewish Catalogue. We were greatly saddened to hear of his death and will always continue to think of him when we gaze upon the ketubah. Rabbi Gary Creditor & Ruby Eisenberg-Creditor.
