Roger Wald
DURHAM, NC - HE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS LOVE AND DEVOTION TO HIS FAMILY.
Roger was born on August 29, 1946 in Zeeland, ND, to Ben and Evelyn Wald. He grew up in a loving family in Zeeland, ND, and graduated a college in Valley City with a Bachelor's degree in Education.
Roger began his successful career from teaching and coaching sports and later moved into a successful career in Business Sales. Roger married Marion Salwei in 1968, which whom he had two loving children, Jenni and Scott. After a brief time in Lisbon, ND, Roger moved his family to Bismarck, ND, where he resided for most of his life. Later in his later life (2015) Roger and his wife, Alla, moved to NC, where he has been enjoying warmer climate, spending time with his family, loving on his grand kids, playing golf with his buddies, traveling, and doing yard work. Roger made sure he visited his family and children in different states at least yearly and kept contact with everyone he knew.
Roger was a classy, witty, and genuine person. He was friendly and kind to everyone he met, and was always there for friends and family in need. Roger truly made friends anywhere he went and his presence provided happiness and comfort for his family and friends. Roger is known to be affectionate and loving, and always gave his family hugs and kisses and made sure they knew how much he loved them. Roger loved Life and lived life to the fullest every day. He was fun loving and had a great laugh. Roger was known for wonderful and unique sense of humor, which friends referred to it as "crazy sense of humor" - and knowing Roger, he would definitely take it as a compliment! Roger loved to joke, and always enjoyed having good, fun times with family and friends. Roger had such a beautiful, classy, rich and deep voice; he often enjoyed singing along with his favorite Elvis Presley while driving his car.
There are not enough kind words to describe Roger. Most people would describe Roger to be caring, funny, easy-going, and loving. Roger's family, friends, and people who knew him - all loved him very much. His grand kids describe him as "Best grandpa ever!"
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Alla; his children: Jenni Wald Bodus (Philip), Las Vegas; son, Scott Wald (Susan), Denver; sister, Pam Gabriel (Darius), Bismarck; step-daughters: Sevil Elmer (Preston), Emma Furman LaLumia (Frank); step-sons: Quinn and Seth Wroblewski; nieces Jessica Gabriel, Natalie Walter (Jaimeson), Rachel Tetzloff (Darren); his grandchildren: Frankie LaLumia, Sophia Elmer and Ethan Elmer; the children of his nieces: DJ and Parker Gabriel, Dominic and Eve Tetzloff, Hadelyn and Jaxon Walter. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Evelyn Wald; his sister, Bernie Steele; his first wife, Marion Wald; and second wife, Marilee Wald.
In his Will and verbally, Roger informed his children Jenni and Scott about his wish to be cremated.
In lieu of an official funeral service, Roger preferred for family, friends and people who knew him to gather together to celebrate his Life and to remember him. Fond memories and expressions of condolences can be shared online at Apexfuneral.net and Bismarcktribune.com for the Wald family.
