Jay Gregory Hanselman of Westport, Connecticut died January 12, 2009 with his family at his side. He was always fiercely optimistic as he courageously battled kidney cancer for 17 years. Greg was born February 15, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri to Gean and Joan Southerland Hanselman. He graduated from Parkview High School and MSU in Springfield with a business degree where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He began his successful marketing career at Heer's as Advertising Manager and them continued as Vice-President of Advertising and Marketing for Allied Stores; Makro SHV; Home Quarters; Channel; and Rickel. Relocating to Connecticut in 1992. Greg had many friends, loved golf and had played in Pro-Am tournaments. He was always proud of Springfield and anxious to hear everything that was happening up to the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Gean Hanselman. He is survived by his mother, Joan Metten and her husband, John, Springfield; his beloved wife, Janice; his daughters, Jaylyn Corna and her husband, Matt, Columbus, Ohio; and Julie Bardelmeier and her husband, Michael, Chicago; a very special sister, Sandra Benti and her husband, Jim; his niece, Kim Tucci and nephew, Jay Turner, all of Connecticut. A memorial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date.
