Jay Rosamond Owens, Jr., D.D.S. progressed from this life on May 21, 2025 at 4:00am. He was in his home of 48 years. A treasured man of Faith, he grew up attending Cherry Street AME Zion. Dr. Owens attended college at Howard University and Dental School at Meharry Medical College where he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in 1968. After he joined the Army, was stationed in El Paso Texas. Upon returning to Arkansas and finally settling in Little Rock, he became an active member of Bethel AME church in the early 80s - singing with the choir and participating in all manners of assistance and organization for the church until his health no longer permitted.

He leaves in his honor wife of 59 years, Staggie Darnelle Owens; children, Robin Christina Boyd, Jay Jay Rosamond Owens, III and LaTitia-DeLaine Owens; siblings, Ray Owens, Glenda Owens Reeves, Clarence Owens; sibilings-in-laws, Elmo Gordon, Bobby Gordon, Hilton Gordon; grandchildren, Derrick Clark Girley, David Scott, Marcus Boyd Jr., Devon Boyd, Josiah Owens, and Bella Owens; a host of great-grand children, cousins, nephews, niece and other family. He was preceded in death by his child, Kevin Dwayne Owens; parents, Jay Rosamond Owens, Sr. and Mary Brown Owens; siblings and siblings-in-laws, John Hill, Jr., Lois Hill, Ralph Owens, Virgirean Mays Owens, and Henry Hill.
