Jayne Hobgood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22, 2023.
Jayne Michele (Riley) Hobgood passed away quietly on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the age of 73 after several years of suffering from Alzheimer's. Jayne graduated with a major in English from Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is also where she met her future husband, Ronald Allen Hobgood. Ron and Jayne went on to have three sons: John, Jared, and Judd. After several years in Indianapolis, Jayne and Ron moved to Evansville, Indiana, where Ron's parents still lived, and where Jayne joined the faculty at Mater Dei Catholic High School. She not only taught the AP English classes; she also was the faculty debate and drama coach for many years. Jayne was preceded in death by her husband Ron and her son Jared, as well as her parents, oldest brother John Reginald, Jr., and youngest brother John Michael Riley. She is survived by her sons John (Amy) Hobgood, and Judd (Leah) Hobgood, and her grandchildren Jared "Dos," Ella, Jeff, Laura, and Adrian. The funeral mass to celebrate Jayne's life will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida.

By chance I read about Jayne's passing today and my heart paused. I met Jayne when we were freshmen in college at Marian. She was such a beautiful girl with the kindest heart and such a bubbly personality! We stayed good friends until life got in the way, taking us in different directions. But she was always one of my fondest memories of years gone by!
Keeping Jayne and all her family in my prayers.
