Jayne Smith Obituary
Jayne was born in Chester, South Carolina to Alice Gladden Sawyer and the late Wayne Brooks Sawyer. She moved to Macon with her family from Georgetown, SC in 1975 and graduated from Tattnall Square Academy in 1977. Jayne attended Macon Junior College when she got her dream job as a buyer at Kiralfy-Goldmans in the junior department. Then she went on to manage 2 Celebration Hallmark Stores which led her to owning/operating Jayne's Hallmark for 20+ years.
After she met and married Scott, she sold her store and became the Special Events Coordinator at Ingleside Baptist Church. A job she truly was blessed by. Jayne coordinated countless events, dinners and weddings. One of her favorite jobs was to serve coffee every Sunday for thousands of Ingleside worshipers.
Her loves were Scott Smith, her five "babies" (nieces and nephews), Katherine, Anna Claire, Reid, Ali, and Jack; her former customers, her fabulous friends, her fur baby and her "precious brides".
Jayne loved the Lord and had a servant's heart. She made and kept friends in every part of her life which has been made ever more apparent these last few months.
She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Smith; mother, Alice Sawyer; sister, Jill S. Walsh and family; brother, Jeffrey and Carol Sawyer and family; parents-in-law, Ann and Earl Joiner; sister-in-law, Jeannie and Allen Denton; brother-in-law, Jonathan and Sue Smith, aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sanders and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gladden and family, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jayne was a special soul that brought joy to everyone who knew her. Her smile was infectious and her joy bubbled all around her. Once you met Jayne you could never forget her. She will be terribly missed by many here on earth but heaven has gained a wonderful Angel. My sincere condolences to her husband, family, and many friends/loved ones. I met Jayne when I sold advertising for a radio station.I shopped at Jayne's Hallmark Store (Hers)on Tom Hill Sr. drive. She was a joy to work with and becomes friends with her. She had a wonderful spirit about her and that beautiful glowing smile. We know where she is today. Serving her Jesus. With my deepest sympathy to her husband and family and friends.

We will certainly miss your smiling face Jayne! It was always a joy to talk with her in the gathering area at church. She directed our daughter's wedding. We will always treasure her words of wisdom and guidance during that special time. May God provide comfort to her family at this time.

Scott and family - you now have a very special angel watching over you every minute of every day. She will be in the gentle winds that blow, a special song you hear, in your prayers, and in the love of all of her friends. Jayne was so special to everyone. For me, it will be the memories of her singing at Tattnall graduations for all three of my children, her smiles every time I went to the store to see her, in her constant calm presence each Sunday at church. Our paths crossed in so many ways and I know they will cross again one day in Heaven. Until then, my friend!

Jayne coordinated my wedding in 1997. When I asked her once about the appropriateness of doing something, she told me: I "You are the star, and your mama is the co-star!" When she got married, I can't even repeat what she said to me immediately following her vows! Suffice it to say, Jayne was hoot! God bless you, Jayne. You will always be missed.

Jayne Sawyer was a wonderful friend to me and my entire family. When I moved to Macon she was one of the first people I met at Ingleside and we immediately hit it off. I would go see her at her Hallmark Store and was always greeted with "Hey Honey". If you were ever Jayne's friend, you were always her friend. I never heard her speak an ill word of others. She was always an encourager and a person who had your back. She loved Scott like no other and I am so grateful they found each other. She loved and will be missed by her entire family and all her friends. I'll be away for the funeral, but my thoughts and heart will be with all of you. Rest easy my friend!

I met Jayne after recently moving to Macon. She was so welcoming and friendly. She could start up a conversation so easily and I guess that's why I looked forward to shopping at her shops. I didn't really care what I bought... I just wanted a chat with Jayne. My family and I would always leave smiling as we left her shop. After the shops closed, I would run into Jayne at various random events and I was amazed at how she and I would pick up a chat. I figured God knew when I needed a good chat because that is when I would run into Jayne. My deepest sympathies to Jayne's family. She will be sincerely missed.❤
