(née Townsend)
1924 - 2016
Hap passed away peacefully on January 19, 2016 after a brief illness. It was an unfair fight which her strength and will to survive could not overcome. She leaves to grieve her loving husband Tex, a partner for 67 wonderful years, her daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Don, her son Bruce and grandchildren Jérémie and Camille. She graduated from Westhill High School in 1943 and entered the nursing program of the Royal Victoria Hospital. After graduation in 1947 she became director of nursing of floor 4 east of the maternity hospital. She nursed privately for various general practitioners and eventually became school nurse with Lorna Davis for Rosemere High School. Hap held the position of unofficial community nurse for many years, treating everyone in need with the most kindness and expertise. She performed on stage and brightened the lives of everyone in the audience. She will be forever remembered for her beauty of body and spirit, her sense of humour and generosity. Visitation will take place at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., Dollard-des- Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6 (514) 685-3344 www.rideaumemorial.com on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from noon to 2 p.m., followed by a ceremony at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Old Brewery Mission (393, St- Jacques Street, Suite 250, Montreal, QC H2Y 1N9), or a charity of your choice.

Dear Tex, our sincere condolences to you and your family.

We remember you and Hap lip-synching to a Kenny Rogers song at an RCC's variety show years ago. It was fabulous! She was quite a lady and had such a 'joie de vivre'.

Dear Uncle Tex, Sue and Bruce: When I heard the news, I shed more than a few tears. Your family meant so much to us - our trips to Cape Cod and Martha's Place and of course, Fossil events. I'm happy that I got to see Hap and you Uncle Tex, in the fall. I'm sure her spirit continued until the end, as she was so delightfully cheerful when we met. A bright spirit and her incredible smile.
